St. Patrick’s Day Fun Activities
WSD’s elementary department was filled with
students and staff wearing all shades of green.
We spent our morning observing the holiday
in a very unique and educational way. Our
focus was to discuss a serious topic in a fun
way! Students learned how to give and get
compliments. They learned to stay positive
and find good in all people. They learned about
“bullies” and the best way to handle insults and
mean behavior from others. Staff performed
skits showing positive and negative behaviors.
Students held up a sign with a picture of our
principal Connie Gartner smiling on one side
and frowning on the other.

our shamrock cookies. But then it was ASL
specialist Kathryn Harbison’s turn to share
a book with all the students on how to solve
a problem with a bully. These are skills our
students will need all their lives. We hope they
left with a positive feeling and new ideas to
handle uncomfortable situations.
