World renowned tribute band The Mersey Beatles are bringing their UK tour to an historic Wirral venue that played such an important role in the story of the original Fab Four .
The Beatles played Port Sunlight ’ s Hulme Hall no fewer than four times back in the 1960s – most famously on August 18th 1962 when Ringo Starr made his official debut as a member of the band . After this gig they would forever be known as John , Paul , George and Ringo ! Sadly , fewer than 80 of the 200-plus British venues where The Beatles played remain today as many of the much-loved dance halls and theatres that once pounded to the original ‘ Merseybeat ’ have been demolished .
Thankfully Hulme Hall – situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Port Sunlight – has survived and will again rock to the songs of Beatlemania on Wednesday October 31 . This is the opening night of The Mersey Beatles 17-date ‘ Get Back UK Tour ’ which visits the very same towns , cities and venues the original Fab Four played in the 1960s – celebrating both the music and special places that helped shape the most famous band of all time . The brilliant two-hour show will not only see The Mersey Beatles play the very same songs John , Paul , George and Ringo did at Hulme Hall but also chart the Fab Four ’ s career through the hits from Love Me Do to Let It Be . And the audience has already been warned to get their dancing shoes on !
John Lennon ’ s sister Julia Baird , who saw the original Beatles perform everywhere from her kitchen at home to major theatre shows , and is a director of Liverpool ’ s world famous Cavern Club , said : “ It ’ s going to be a brilliant show at Hulme Hall . The Mersey Beatles are a fantastic band who nail the sound of The Beatles . I ’ ve known them for the best part of 20 years and they recreate The Beatles atmosphere wonderfully . The audience will have a great time and I ’ m sure the good people of Wirral will not be constrained by their seats on the night as The Mersey Beatles have that brilliant ability to get people up on their feet dancing . John would have loved that !”
