TRI-4-LIFE CELEBRATION OF THE MOUNT EVEREST CENTENARY CHALLENGE 2022
Saturday 3rd October saw a very special tri-4- life festival take place at The Light Cinema New Brighton .
A story told in film , music , poetry , and art described the thoughts , feelings , and emotions of the team ’ s journey to the top of the world . Seven members of the tri-4-life team ventured onto the slopes of Mount Everest as part of the George Mallory centenary Challenge 2022 .
The festival opened with a tribute from The Folk Doctors to the memory of the early Everest pioneers . Sixteen years old art student , Emily Salked , produced an amazing exhibition of twelve paintings ‘ Our Road to Everest ’.
Tributes were paid to the teams guiding company Adventure Peaks and the real heroes of Everest the Sherpa Team and Maklu Adventure . A poetry anthology was created with help from Liverpool University English PhD Lecturer , Victoria Ecpo , that describes the thoughts , emotions , and actions during their time on the mountain .
Renowned sculpture , Stephen Hitchin has helped shape the seven mini-Everest rocks presented to the team . These special rocks formed part of the sacred Puja , erected at base camp , and blessed by the Buddhist Lama , for the safe return from Sagarmāthā .
The FILM Premiere was a unique collection of memories captured from a climber ’ s perspective , in the moment by Liam Hanlon on his mobile phone . The fear , exposure , and excitement unfold in typical tri-4-life fashion , in remembrance and friendship . ‘ Don ’ t Give Up ‘ till It ’ s Over ’.
