# TEAM DDB PAUL LAVELLE CHARITY FOOTBALL GAME & FAMILY FUN DAY
‘ TRIUMPH ’ FOR HOLE IN ONE WINNER AT STICK ‘ N ’ STEP GOLF DAY
A golfer , who stood in at the last minute at a charity golf event , scored a hole in one and won a Triumph Street Triple RS motorbike .
Ian Jackson was asked to step in as substitute as the fourth member of a team to take part in cerebral palsy charity Stick ‘ n ’ Step ’ s 14th annual golf day at Pryors Hayes Golf Club in Cheshire . Ian , 57 , who lives in Chester and plays off a handicap of 12 , had no expectation of achieving the miracle shot ; according to bystanders it may not have been the best shot of the day but it was certainly the luckiest !
On Sunday 12th September 2021 at Heswall Football Club , # TeamDDB held the inaugural Paul Lavelle Charity Football Game and Family Fun Day .
The event was a huge success with over 300 people in attendance , the sun was shining , and over £ 2,000 was raised for The Paul Lavelle Foundation - a great local charity who do fantastic work in both raising awareness of male domestic abuse and in supporting male victims and survivors of domestic abuse .
The day itself mainly to remember Paul Lavelle ( who sadly died from domestic abuse in 2017 ) and for the local community to come together to enjoy all of the entertainment that was on offer . The charity football game was won by # TeamDDB , however Paul Lavelle Foundation gave a great account of themselves in their first ever 11-a-side game .
Paul Gladwell of Paul Lavelle Foundation said : " It was a wonderful day arranged by Danny & # TeamDDB , a day to remember our mate Paul and one that full of smiles , friendship and fun ! Thanks for all who took part in this day . It will go towards running our very important services helping men and their families . Thanks from everyone at the Paul Lavelle Foundation "
For # TeamDDB the amount raised from the game now takes their fundraising total to over £ 62,000 for the local community in just over two years ! To follow # TeamDDB on social media @ Team . DDB
Ian said , “ I stepped in at the last minute and was delighted to take part . Stick ‘ n ’ Step is a fantastic charity and I was pleased to be able to offer my support . I still can ’ t believe this has happened . I play every week at Pryors Hayes and it ’ s my first ever hole in one .”
37 four ball teams took part in the event , with players travelling the length and breadth of the UK to get there , including sporting legends such as former footballers Robbie Fowler , Jason McAteer , Frank Stapleton , Stuart Pearson and Arthur Albiston . Sky Sports commentator Rob Palmer organised the day once more in his role as Stick ‘ n ’ Step ’ s ambassador .
Heritage motorcycle dealers Bill Smith Motors , based in Chester , made the generous donation of the Triumph motorbike prize and even covered the cost of insuring it for the event too .
The golf event was followed by an evening of entertainment , which included a set by stand-up comedian Andrew Ryan and a raffle . The event raised over £ 17,000 for Stick ‘ n ’ Step .
Stick ‘ n ’ Step ambassador Rob Palmer , whose son Ellis attended Stick ‘ n ’ Step as a child , said ,“ The day was really as perfect as it could have been , topped off by the extraordinary achievement of a hole in one for the first time in a decade at this event . There are just so many people to thank who made huge efforts to organise and attend this fantastic event . The last year has been so hard for everyone and it was wonderful to be reunited with so many friends for a very memorable day .”
