LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL TENNIS
The Liverpool International tennis tournament staged a best of British 19th tournament at Liverpool Cricket Club to prepare for the landmark 20th anniversary next summer .
With tennis legends ' travel hampered by Covid restrictions and the lockdown playing havoc with the tournament diary , organiser Anders Borg was still keen to stage a shortened event in preparation for next year ' s landmark tournament .
" It has certainly been a challenging time for everyone during the pandemic but we felt it was right and safe to put on our event so we can enjoy high quality tennis and prepare for the 20th anniversary of our tournament next year ."
Play kicked off at 1pm with the Womens singles , Beth Grey vs Amalie , the Mens singles Marcus Willis vs Patrick Brady . New to the Liverpool International this year was a mixed doubles competition , inspired by tournament regular Neal Skupski who this year was crowned Wimbledon champion with his partner Desirae Krawczyk .
Dates for the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2022 are 16-18th June .
