this is the perfect car for you . The California T ( T for turbo-charged ) is a giant step up from the recent California and to give you an idea on the older model ; Chris Harris was once asked to name the good qualities of the last one and remained silent , unable to name any ! So , let ’ s be honest ; the Cali T does not have much to live up to , however , in typical Ferrari style , they wanted to prove everyone wrong and rectify their mistake ... and they did just that . The California T is a real driver ’ s car that can be used every day , as shown by my mother as she screams up and down the Wirral daily , obviously with the roof down as “ there is no other way to drive it ” according to her .
Back to the road now . Aviemore served some real experiences as it gave us so much : a lake , a pub and a hotel . No really , this was all that was there . On the other hand , I do believe we stumbled upon a hidden gem ; a one-way mountain road up to the ski resort followed by a two-lane one-way road back down . To clarify , yes , it was basically a hill climb racetrack and yes , we put the two cars to the test . But most importantly I think my brother and I put our parents to the test , as we told them what gear to be in and how to manage race mode with less grip . The cars coped very well , our parents on the other hand needed a drink once we arrived at the only pub in Aviemore .
Our next stop was the city in which the North Coast 500 starts , Inverness . For such a beautiful road trip round the north coast of Scotland , Inverness is an industrial town where a patch of fog likes to sit around . From here , we drove down the A82 , a stunning road that took us along the bank of the famous Loch Ness through long twisting roads that sounded brilliant on paper , but in reality , it ’ s a busy road full of lorries travelling from the foghogging Inverness .
Despite the gentle drive down the Loch , there was one huge upside and one that I wasn ’ t expecting . As we began to get bored , tired and hungry ( not a fun mix ) we stumbled on a small café in the middle of nowhere that happened
to be the home of what I ’ d say was the best burger in Scotland , although my judgement may have been skewed due to how hungry I was , since the hobnobs just weren ’ t cutting it . The almighty burger also came with a huge side of magnificent views from the art of Maranello along-side the vast countryside that is north Scotland .
This really did help me get ready for the next part of the journey , which luckily was the best bit of the trip so far ; the crossing on to the Isle of Skye . Once we had crossed the mesmerising bridge , over the sea and on to the island , the meaning of beautiful was redefined . More fantastic roads leading up and around mountains surrounded by the sea that engulfs the neighbouring islands that have little to no human life , as wild as can be .
The Isle of Skye was spectacular with its huge variety of views and terrains , all of which the two cars cruised through with no effort at all . We left the Isle of Skye without realising the best was yet to come - the absolute stunning scenery between Fort William and Loch Lomond , through the spectacular Glen Coe , which you absolutely must visit one day .
This road trip is one I will never forget for many reasons , mainly because of how good the weather was , as it ' s a such rarity in this country !
We had the perfect vehicles in the perfect locations and not once did any of us feel that the cars couldn ’ t cope .
These machines are so refined and so impeccably tuned for the world around us and I can ’ t wait to see what Ferrari come up with next . What they can produce next to make these current cars stand in a lower league all together . wirrallife . com 81
