AUTUMN FLORALS By Annie Haughey , The Bloom Room
AUTUMN FLORALS By Annie Haughey , The Bloom Room
Autumn to most people means darker nights , cooler days , warm knits and wintry boots . To me and I hopefully like to think most other florists it means absolutely stunning colours in the flower world ! Yes it ' s sad to say bye to our blushing peonies , but we welcome in warm burnt oranges and burgundy ’ s and the best greenery – in my opinion anyway ! The BEST season is definitely upon us .
Autumn florals are becoming a BIG statement now thanks to the world being very “ Instagramable ”. Mainly American stars going OTT and decorating houses for this period has helped us florists step up our game , and I love it !
This is personally my favourite time of year ( apart from Christmas but I ’ m not allowed to mention that yet !). How about a fabulous autumnal wreath and a little spruce up outside with some gorgeous greenery . I love a vase / bucket / basket filled with all different textures and autumn foliage is the best for this . Style it with some pumpkins , some fab seasonal decorations and maybe a bale of hay and you have the cutest autumnal doorway ! All of which I can provide and design including your very own Bloom Room wreath ! I can ’ t wait for a day when everyone has a seasonal wreath changing all year round just as they would hanging baskets , and it is on its way , I know it is !
This heatwave recently may of messed with my autumn clothes vibe but not my florals and I promise I ’ m not complaining as I have still managed to make the most gorgeous fresh bouquets , with burnt calla lilies , burgundy dahlias , unreal thistles and beautiful hydrangeas , just to name a few . I have also started all my autumnal artificial ideas with the bonus of having this glorious weather to make the flowers pop in the sun ! I have already posted an autumn wreath on my socials and have been inundated with requests regarding it . I will be doing garlands , bouquets ( both fresh and artificial ), and of course doorways . Starting with my own , it is exceedingly rare I get anything I really want done for myself as I ’ m usually last with the leftovers – still fabulous but never quite what I want . So , I have ordered all my stock and décor to start mine this week , and I cannot wait to show you all what I have planned !
I get so excited when people let me get creative with the styles that they have in their heads and bringing them to life in my favourite season is just amazing ! I often get asked so much for my opinion on what I think of their ideas , or even just to create something from scratch by just looking at their rooms or gardens . I value this so much as it means people trust my eye for design and my skills , not just getting me to make something that any florist could do . My goal for Bloom Room which I have mentioned previously in Wirral life is for people to recognise my work and everyone wanting something of mine as its bespoke to each individual - I never make the same thing twice – similar ? yes , the same ? no .
