from landlords on rent . I can ' t imagine a single business that hasn ’ t been affected . The worry we ' ve had on a personal level on people ’ s health as well as wondering if we will ever get to open again , was only made worse by an insurance company ’ s insistence that some restaurants / bars didn ’ t have the cover . Today ’ s high court ruling in favour of the FCA over Hiscox insurance should hopefully change this and allow us all to breath a little easier . We shall see .
While we were closed , we used that time to look at possible improvements to Marine Street Social . We felt comfortable seating would improve customer ’ s dining experience . So we decided to come away from the picnic tables and designed booths , improved the productions with a new lights and sound system , but I think most importantly we partnered up with Burger Joe .
We drafted in Annie to give us a makeover , and of course we had so many safety procedures we had to go through to reduce seating . We developed an App for customers to order . We are really strict with track and trace etc etc , the staff have been superb implementing them .
I know I ’ m biased but it helps that we have a great team , Paige who has been with us from day one is very good and knows exactly how we want the bar / restaurant set up , sound , light and temperature and the way we want our customers to be looked after are really important . All our staff are healthy and one of our staff has just had a little girl . So things are hopefully looking up .
The response from the public has been very good , the bar looks great and we have actually added staff , I just hope going into winter we are able to control the virus and everyone stays healthy .
