HILLSBOROUGH 96 FREEDOM OF WIRRAL
Hillsborough 96 has been awarded freedom of Wirral in tribute to victims and campaigners.
The riverside gardens at Wallasey Town Hall have been dedicated to the 96 men, women and children who died as a result of the Hillsborough tragedy. The gardens will also become a tribute dedicated to the“ courage, dignity and tenacity” of those who have fought for justice since the 1989 disaster.
Mayor of Wirral Cllr Ann McLachlan, who oversaw the dedication of the gardens as a place for“ remembrance and reflection”, said:“ It was a proud and poignant occasion when family members and friends of those affected by the Hillsborough stadium disaster gathered at Wallasey Town Hall.”
