W L WHAT’S ON 25 OCTOBER 2016 3-20 NOVEMBER 2016 FAMILY MUSIC Liverpool International Horse Show Charity ‘Ride into Liverpool’ On the day, up to 50 horses and riders including key sports figures and celebrities as well as local riding schools will be riding along a designated route from the city’s Garden Festival Site in to Riverside Drive and on to Salthouse Quay before ending at the ACC Plaza and Echo Arena. The route is approximately 4 km and so collectively the horses will take more than 50,000 strides along the way. During the event, the team will be supporting the Bob Champion Cancer Care Trust and Bob Champion will be on horseback during the event for the first time in 4 years. For more info: www.liverpoolhorseshow.com International Guitar Festival Wirral prepares for a great month of music that will, once again, show the versatility and range of the guitar throughout the history of every genre of music. The strings are tuned, the guitars are in transit and the music is on the way. The Guitar Festival bursts out in November to make the Wirral the home of guitar music for three weeks. Legends such as Andy Fairweather Low, John Lee’s Barclay James Harvest and Glenn Tilbrook are appearing in the Floral Pavilion Theatre. In the Blue Lounge, the eminent classical guitarist, Graham Anthony Devine, and the great Peter Asher and Albert Lee will be performing together. With over one hundred musicians on stage this concert is a display of the outstanding versatility of some of the world’s finest military musicians, featuring the full works - spectacular lighting and big screen imagery! Royal Marines Bands are renowned worldwide for their precision ceremonial marching displays and spectacular concerts. In their famous white pith helmets the Royal Marines Corps of Drums and Ceremonial Fanfare Trumpeters perform in the traditional Naval ‘sunset ceremony’ which once witnessed in the fantastic surroundings of the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is surely never to be forgotten. It will be one of the most defining events of 2016 on both sides of the River Mersey as both Liverpool City Council and Wirral Council come together to stage an unforgettable November 5th fireworks celebration. Tens of thousands of people are expected to line both sides of the river. A mid-river firework display will wow the crowds, with some special added extras turning it into one of the most ambitious fireworks events in the country. This 2016 Ice Festival promises to be bigger than last year’s event with attractions, including under-cover iceskating, rides, food outlets, bars and cafes.
