VAUXHALL MOTORS FC – THE MOTOR KIDZ!
Vauxhall Motors FC have launched their new # MotorKidz initiative aimed at getting more children at all ages playing football.
The club which is just about to undergo a fantastic £ 1M + redevelopment at their home ground in Rivacre Park Ellesmere Port, including a brand new clubhouse and two state of the art 4G all weather training pitches, is looking to increase the number of football teams playing at the club from 28 to 56 over the next three years. As part of the initiative they have launched the Griffin Membership Card for all development, junior and youth team players which will give them fantastic discounts on a range of products, events and things to do at Vauxhall Motors FC and in the local area. In addition, an Events Team has been set up to provide all players with fun events throughout the year including a Halloween Spooktacular Night, Drop and Shop Training Sessions, Movie Days and Breakfast With Santa.
Neil Young, Vice Chairman of the newly formed Vauxhall Motors FC Steering Group, said“ We are entering a really exciting time for Vauxhall Motors FC and youth development is key to the future success of this football club. We have 28 junior and youth teams playing in leagues and tournaments from Under 7 up to Under 18, however, our work and coaching starts much earlier than this. Our development stage starts at just three years old with our expert coaches working with the children to enjoy football and learn the skills necessary for when they are ready to join the ranks of competitive football at Under 7 ' s. This season we have three teams joining us in Under 7 ' s that have been coached through development stage and already nine of the boys have been picked up by various academies across the North West including Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United. Whatever your level, we will help you enjoy football as well as meet new friends and enjoy quality things to do with your teammates.”
The junior and youth players are also enjoying plenty of time with the Vauxhall Motors FC first team and reserve team and are featuring as mascots at their home games at Rivacre Park. Last week the Under 7’ s were led out with the team in their 2-2 draw with Hale. Six year old goalkeeper Arthur Palmer said“ It was an amazing experience walking out with the goalkeeper. When I grow up I want to be goalkeeper for Vauxhall’ s. He asked me what I thought the score would be and I said 3-1. He asked didn’ t I think he’ d keep a clean sheet and I said no. I was right!”
If you would like to get your young child involved in football in the development stage, training runs from 9.30am to 10.30am on a Saturday on the astroturf pitch at Rivacre Park for children 5 and under. The club has a five year plan to get the first team back into the Conference North and the new complex and training facilities will give Vauxhall Motors FC the best facilities outside the Premier League.
HESWALL GOLF CLUB INVEST £ 200K TO IMPROVE GREENS
Heswall Golf Club has sat on the banks of the River Dee since 1902 and so have many of our greens. The natural land underneath us is mainly clay based. With increasingly wet winters( and a lot of the summer), this surface isn ' t ideal for good playable putting surfaces all year round.
At the end of September, Heswall Golf Club embarked upon a £ 200k project to convert six more of our old clay greens into the more widely used USGA greens. This construction allows for much more efficient drainage due to the layering technique. The works will be carried out by 1st Golf Construction Ltd, whom in there 28 years of experience have worked on six Open Championship venues. Work will take no more than a month to compete all six greens: 2nd, 3rd( and re-shaped), 4th, 12th, 15th & 17th and will result in members and visitors alike being able to enjoy firmer, faster greens for 12 months of the year with consistency throughout.
Whilst the work is underway, there will be a bedding in period over the winter but the main shapes and contouring of the greens will remain the same. Visitor green fees of £ 20 per person will reflect this period- Tom Atkinson. wirrallife. com 83
