ROYAL MERSEY YACHT CLUB 175 TH ANNIVERSARY
The Royal Mersey Yacht Club celebrated
its 175th Anniversary by holding a Gala at
Wallasey Town Hall on the 20th September
2019 with over 200 guests attending.
The evening was a great success with the Lord
Lieutenant of Merseyside and his wife, Mayor
and Mayoress of Wirral as well as Lieutenant
Commander of HMS Mersey attending this
prestigious event. The Sea Cadets helped mark
this occasion by welcoming guests with a side
party and carpet guard of 20 Sea Cadets and
Royal Marine Cadets, some of whom then
formed a Corps of Drums to perform the hugely
impressive Mess Beatings, prior to dinner.
Royal Mersey Yacht Club Commodore Ian
Diamond wishes to thank everyone who helped
mark this most auspicious of occasions and
delighted to have raised £6,000 for the Wirral
RNLI stations ensuring seafarers and the public
operating and using the waters of the Mersey,
Dee, Liverpool Bay and Irish Sea have a service
that they can call on at any time. Special thanks
were made to all lifeboat men and women who
provide this remarkable service; their courage
and selflessness is an inspiration to us all, and it
has been a privilege for the Royal Mersey Yacht
Club to raise funds for this cause.
