INTRODUCING:
LACUNA RECRUITMENT
Steve Rossiter had gained a wealth of experience in the recruitment industry working for a broad range of companies which has allowed him to understand the good and bad sides of recruiting. He recognised that some companies, particularly small and medium companies had issues with the typically high fees, so approached Wirral Wolves with an idea to break apart the traditional recruitment model.
Steve explained“ Many SMEs struggle through the recruitment process themselves as their budget does not allow for expensive recruitment bills. Some aspects they may do very successfully & enjoy; others they struggle with. For example people often stress & pontificate about writing a job advert; we can write appealing & attractive ads with ideal content for search engines. The company may go on to do the rest themselves, thus only paying a fraction of the cost from a traditional recruitment agency.”
The model of splitting up the half a dozen functions of a recruiter means that SMEs can make significant savings whilst keeping control of the aspects they’ re best at, or happy to control. Steve is an expert in executive head-hunting which he describes as a real skill. he said“ We can source outstanding candidates for firms and bring them all the way through the recruitment process. However not only do we have exceptional IT & attraction techniques, but we are unusual insofar as we are happy to allow the client to do the rest of the recruitment process, again leaving their company with both big savings & better control.
Lacuna will also work on a retainer basis meaning larger companies who make multiple annual hires can spread the cost evenly, pushing the peaks, allowing a better control on cash flow. Steve explained“ It would be great for a company who make 12 hires a year to have one hire a month. in reality there may be nothing for a couple of months then three in one, meaning big troughs in cash flow. Our retainer model spreads the cost and thus allows for better control over a recruitment budget.”
They have named the company Lacuna which comes from the Latin for‘ an unfilled space’; quite appropriate for a recruitment agency.
An investment of both cash and holistic support services has come from the team at Whitfield Business with their latest venture‘ Wirral Wolves’. Directors Nik Ellis & Justine McLaughlin are fully behind Steve. Nik said“ We are delighted to support Steve and have no doubt that he has hit on something that is of great benefit to SMEs in the region.”
