BIPC NETWORKING LUNCH
Liverpool ' s Business & IP Centre hosted a networking lunch event at the Racquet Club Liverpool last month with special guest and keynote speaker Chris Lubbe .
Mr Lubbe was Nelson Mandela ' s bodyguard and he played a key role in the post apartheid negotiations which led to a new constitution in South Africa . He received a standing ovation for his speech where he shared his journey from apartheid to Freedom and talked about his time in prison and his fight for justice .
The event coincided with the Liverpool Against Racism festival and Sonia Bassey MBE welcomed Chris Lubbe on behalf of Mayor Joanne Anderson and the City .
BIPC ' s Geraldine Fuller introduced the pair . She said : " It is rare that a business speaker encompasses themes around diversity , hope , courage , adversity and leadership all in one session . It was a huge honour to welcome a man of such international standing who represents peace and epitomises bravery , resilience and integrity . His messages to the business community of Liverpool today could not be more important and relevant . "
Around 100 business leaders attended the event and included many entrepreneurs who had received support from BIPC Liverpool in Central Library as well as leading figures from the City ' s professional community .
