One of the most interesting things in life is not knowing where the course
takes us, five years ago Cars N Coffee Liverpool was created.
Just a group of car enthusiasts we’ve known for many years on the automotive show
circuit. At the time of writing, we’re all still locked down, so here’s a little flashback.
It was during the years spent on the European and Californian car scenes, Jay Leno
(American chat show host & massive car enthusiast) whom we had the pleasure of
spending some time, inspired us to start Cars N Coffee Liverpool five years ago,
we had no route, just an idea. We grew organically into something we would never
have envisaged would be so popular. Many Cars and Coffee regions have sprung up
through the years (not with any association), ours from the start, connected closely
to various charity organisations/ foundations, the local Liverpool Lord Mayors and
councillors, as well as the local auto industry, manufacturers and local businesses.
Fast forward the time here at Cars N Coffee, thanks to Chung Ku Restaurant for
providing a wonderful and iconic backdrop. It has been drawing motorists from as
far as London and Scotland. Plus many car friends we know from around the world
pop in when visiting Liverpool. Who could have imagined the summer of 2020 will
go down in history to affect the whole world with this pandemic virus let alone
Cars N Coffee Liverpool? The thousands of eager motorist members wishing for the
lockdown to be lifted is still on the horizon.
We’ve been sitting and reflecting on the previous years’ meetings. As a regular
reader of Wirral Life and Sefton Life magazines, what was your favourite moment
or vehicle? Could it be the monstrous Terrapod frame system ride from Jaguar Land
Rover Factory in Halewood, or the Star Wars Storm Trooper (Delroy) whom was our
mascot for many meetings, especially Cash for Kids Radio City fund raiser.
Remember the day with Parkinsons UK, thanks to Leslie Durrant for gathering
many Ford rarities? Or was it the circulation of motorbikes from the Blood Bikes
organisation? For many years we have been receiving more and more car collectors
and car clubs here at the meet, varying from Mr Pilkington with his classic Ferrari
250 collection, to Mr Forsyth with his Vincent motorbikes. Not forgetting all the
individual classic or sports owners, but also the quirky vehicles - such as Oliver
Harrison’s Fastrac tractor, that led the convoy to the Liverpool Food Bank. That was
emotional and memorable.
We can reminisce for now due to the pandemic lockdown. Even though we all feel
frustrated with nowhere to go. But now should be the time that we can pick up the
abandoned projects we wanted to finish, but never had the time, and devour more of
the movies and books we’ve never had time for. We have selected a few photographs
to remind you of some of the great moments that I am sure express more than words.
From everyone here at Cars N Coffee Liverpool, we hope you are all safe and
healthy, we cannot wait to see you all again very soon! To join in with the
updates and conversations please join us on Facebook Group - CNC Liverpool
