W L SCHOOL CHILDREN KEEP WIRRAL CARE HOME RESIDENTS CHEERFUL Residents at a Wirral care home have been overwhelmed to receive lovely letters, cards and pictures from children at nearby secondary school. in Oldfield Road which opened in 2016 and has a rating of 4.7 out of five on leading UK care home review website carehome.co.uk. The Hazelwell, a residential, nursing, palliative and respite care in Heswall, received messages and drawings from pupils at Neston High School to help keep those in their care connected to the local community during the coronavirus crisis. Sue Ball, care home manager at The Hazelwell, said staff are keeping residents cheery with activities at the home but were bowled over by the kindness of messages. The home is unable to host visits from friends and relatives at the moment after taking the necessary steps to safeguard its residents by closing it to non-essential visitors. Pupils sent in letters, cards and pictures so care home staff at The Hazelwell could share them with everyone who lives there and bring a smile to their faces. Like many other schools across the Wirral, Neston High School, closed its doors to almost all school children – except key workers – last Friday and its students are remote learning from home. The school is four miles away from The Hazelwell 14 wirrallife.com Sue said: “Everyone at The Hazelwell would like to say a big thank you from all of our residents to Neston High School for thinking about us and sending cards with such thoughtful messages. “We have been overwhelmed to receive so many letters – our residents absolutely love them and many have brought tears to our eyes. We have really enjoyed reading them. It has really has brought us all such joy.
