This month we celebrated our 4 year anniversary and Liverpool Lord Mayor Christine Banks came along to join in the celebrations. Thanks to every car enthusiast, supporter, family/friends of Cars and Coffee Liverpool for raising over £20,000 for charity to date. And to the following brands for their support: Tesla, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, BMW, Jaguar/Land Rover, Wirral Life and Sefton Life Magazine. Our first ever meeting introduced the first full electric car brand Tesla to Liverpool and the North West crowd, look now! A game changer turning the whole of the motoring industry upside down. Unlike most car meets and shows, the credit does not stop just there. Oh no, endless activities, collaborations and charity work continues throughout the weeks outside of the event. Thanks to the number of volunteers who this month we are proud to have been involved with, in particular, the Radio City Cash for Kids Superhero Day held at Liverpool Exchange Square to raise money for children. Remember Adam Dixon’s black 1972 Mercedes W108 280SE on an air ride system we mentioned in a previous issue? Air ride car culture has become the craze in the last two decades and originated in Europe and America. Cars that can raise and lower with a press of a button - compress and inflate by air at the suspension. Powered by an electric or engine-driven air pump or compressor. This compressor pumps the air into flexible bellows, usually made from textile-reinforced rubber. Normally used on Rolls Royce’s, Maybach/Mercedes, Citroen, Porsche, Range Rovers and even today’s commercial buses feature height adjustable suspension suitable for making it easier to enter the vehicle, clear bumps, or clear rough terrain. Nowadays it’s more or less for show purposes. An 1983 Audi C3 100 showcar in Sapphire Blue metallic owned by a very good friend, Chris Scragg, known in the VW show circuit. A 63,000 miler that’s been restored better than it left the factory. Audi introduced the 3rd generation 100 model in 1982. This model was the 4-door saloon with its long narrow boat size and more smooth, rounded aerodynamic look. Powered by a 2.0 Litre 10v R5 Five Cylinder fuel-injected engine, 115bhp. A car, striking for its period, correct accessories, tastefully done and very original looking modifications. The chosen charity this month was Everton in the Community, Merchant Seaman & Michael Causer Foundation. A big thanks to all of our motoring members, amazing friends and supporters, the Cars and Coffee Liverpool team, Terry Alan Barnett, John Kane, Matthew Eaton his dad, Luke Jordan, Jimmy Rutledge, John Connell, Charalene Lee and her Coffee family and CCL friends! A huge thanks to our sponsors Cafe Origin Coffee, McLaren Manchester, AutoRenew, OCD Porsche Specialist, WSR Recycling, Tom Tully Tyres, Impact Solutions, Philangle Stamps, Wirral Life Magazine & Sefton Life Magazine photographer Mike McTigue. See you all again on Sunday 2nd June 2019! Same time, same place for a Coffee Origin and a Char Sui Bun. www.carsandcoffeeliverpool.co.uk Safe Happy motoring;) If you’re thinking of buying your first Classic car or premium dream car or selling your car it can be a bit daunting to find the right car. You may have an idea what you want, perhaps a brand or type of car, but there are a whole lot of cars out there and pitfalls too.
