THE WIRRAL BAKE OFF
Wednesday 17th April saw the 3rd year of The
Wirral Bake Off - another sell out event, with
tickets selling out within 3 minutes of the tickets
going on sale (online).
This year ‘The Wirral Bake Off ’s’ chosen charity/
cause was ‘Me Again CIC’ (based in Brimstage) all
proceeds raised (£3005.19) from the event and the
prize draw went direct to help with ‘Me Again’s’ new
property and developments.
The evening at Claremont Farm, started with a
welcoming cocktail followed by introducing the
4 judges - Katie Kenny from SQUIDGES bakery,
Andrew Pimbley from Claremont Farm, Ceri
Newton from Gorge’us homemade & Nicola
Smith from Wirral Life’s Magazine. Each judge was
marking on ‘quality of bake’, ‘appearance’, ‘texture
and ‘flavour’. The audience also had an important
role of tasting and marking the cakes on a similar
criteria. After 9 delicious courses of cake & several
Wirral Bake Off Cocktails later, the judges &
audience had to select a ‘Peoples choice winner’ -
Kimmy Green from ‘Bakehouse by the beach’ and
‘Wirral’s best baker’ which was awarded to Sophie
Williams from ‘Tommy loves Cake’. The evening

to give back to our local community by raising
awareness & funds for local charities and causes
whilst also giving local home bakers & small baking
businesses a platform to share their talents & love of
cake. It is a special event with a friendly, community
feel.”
