IN BRIEF
BRIGHT AND
BEAUTIFUL BALL
IN MEMORY OF CLAIRE THE HIVE YOUTH ZONE HELP
RAISE FUNDS FOR CASH FOR
KIDS IN SKYFALL
A special event has been organised to celebrate and
remember Claire Cain, who was the inspiration for
Claire House Children's Hospice, to celebrate what
would have been her 40th birthday this July. Most Superheroes have to deal with many different
weather conditions and on Radio City's Cash for Kids
Superhero Day 2019 it was no different! In one day there
was the most beautiful sunshine, rain showers, followed
by a full storm and lightening!
Taking place at Wallasey Town Hall on Saturday 27th July 2019,
family and friends have got together to organise this very special
event. Tickets are £65 and includes a three course meal with wine, a
drinks reception with Sing Me Merseyside Choir and dancing to 'Bow
Selectas'.
Claire's mum, Chris Cain said: "We are the parents of a special
little girl, Claire Cain. We are fundraising in acknowledgement of
everything our daughter Claire gave during her short life and the
legacy she left in her bravery and spirit. She was the inspiration
behind Claire House.
"September 2018-2019 is the year in which Claire and her classmates
turn 40. We have united to celebrate and remember Claire whilst
raising money in her memory.
"Claire loved music and music plays a key role in activities at Claire
House. It costs just over 40K to run a music and care package at the
hospice. Through ‘Claire’s 40 for 40’ we aim to raise enough funds to
pay for this for one year. The ‘Bright and Beautiful Ball’ will take place
a few days before Claire's birthday when she would have turned 40."

On the day, £78,560 was raised by the amazing individuals and teams
abseiling down the Radio City Tower.
Adam Mellor, Chief Executive of the Hive Youth Zone was one of the
many brave participants. He was joined by his colleague Lewis Collins,
Youth Worker and Creative Director of Neo Community Nerds.
They both raised just over £1000 and did this challenge not just to
achieve something amazing but because of all the fabulous projects
Cash for Kids supports across the Wirral and Merseyside - helping and
supporting some of the most disadvantaged children.
Adam Mellor, of The Hive said: “This was a tremendous opportunity
for us to do something in return for the help that Cash for Kids has
provided to The Hive over the last couple of years.
"It’s a charity that shares our values and like The Hive, it aims to make
a difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people in
the local community. We wish to thank our fantastic supporters who
sponsored us and helped contribute to raising valuable funds for Cash
for Kids”.
Another amazing group to get involved was the Team Challenge
Group from Willmott Dixon. The group of 12 raised just under £5000.
The group showed there support towards the vision of one community
all working together to support many Wirral based community and
charity projects, one of which is Neo Community who are going to
benefit from a fully accessible children's community garden over the
next few weeks.
