MANSOUR BAHRAMI RETURNS FOR WILLIAMS BMW
LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT
Mansour Bahrami, one of the greatest entertainers in world
sport, is set to return for the Williams BMW Liverpool
International Tennis Tournament in June. “In our 110th year, the status of title sponsor enhances our
commitment to supporting sports throughout the North West
and to encourage talents at all levels.’’
Mansour is an important player on the legends circuit and
his showmanship has made him a long-standing and popular
figure in invitational and official tennis tournaments around
the world. Also returning to the Liverpool event are two Italian winners
from 2018, Corrina Dentoni and Alessandro Giannessi.
Tournament Director Anders Borg said: “It’s a great boost
for us to have Mansour returning to Liverpool. We are in the
entertainment business and whilst tennis is a very serious
game, Mansour has changed the rules a little on the exhibition
circuit with his incredible abilities to showcase the sport as a
fun game.”
The Williams BMW Liverpool International Tennis
Tournament is in its 18th year and will run from Thursday
20th June to Sunday 23rd June inclusive at Liverpool Cricket
Club.
The tournament has grown into the longest running and
largest tennis exhibition in Europe - featuring ATP and WTA
players warming up for Wimbledon in addition to the ever-
popular legends of tennis.
Guy Adams, managing director of Williams Group, said: "As
a North West based family-owned business with a flagship
retail centre in Liverpool serving the city and Merseyside,
Williams BMW is a long-standing supporter and sponsor of
this prestigious tournament.
Not only does the tournament attract some of the best talent
from around the world, it also focuses on promoting tennis
locally and inviting talent from the region to play in Liverpool.
Neal and Ken Skupski of Allerton, who started their
international tennis careers at the Liverpool International,
have enjoyed incredible success in recent years on the ATP
doubles circuit and won several ATP events.
Another North West based star, Naomi Broady, who peaked
at No.56 in the doubles’ rankings, will feature in the women’s
singles event this year.
Anders Borg added: “Naomi is a former top 100 player with
several titles to her name. It just proves that even if you come
from a region dominated by other sports, the North West can
also develop some very good tennis players such as the Skupski
brothers and Miss Broady.
“We’re here to encourage kids to pick up the great game of
tennis because I’m sure there are many more talents like
Naomi out there.”
