THE WORLD ACCORDING TO FOGGY- SUPERBIKE CHAMPION ENTERTAINS AT BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL
B & M WASTE PROVE THEIR GREEN CREDENTIALS WITH COMMITMENT TO PLASTIC RECYCLING
Birkenhead School and Linghams Booksellers in Heswall, recently welcomed the World Superbike Champion, Carl Fogarty, MBE, to the Wirral to talk about his new book‘ The World According to Foggy’.
Over his incredible career, Carl obtained 59 victories and four World Superbike championships. During the evening, Foggy entertained his thoroughly engaged audience with examples of stories from his book and spoke passionately about his love for motorcycle racing and his incredible career, right up until 2000 when a crash meant he was unable to continue racing.
Carl won the hearts of the British public when he appeared on‘ I’ m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!’ in 2014 and was crowned‘ King of the Jungle’ – his“ coolest title ever” and one that he still proudly owns today, as there have been three‘ Queens of the Jungle’ since he won.
Another important issue, close to Foggy’ s heart, is raising money for a number of charities, including the NSPCC and in July 2016, he walked across Iceland to help raise money for the fantastic charity.
As well as charity work, Carl has also entered into a rather unusual business relationship, alongside Lawrence Dallaglio and James Blunt, opening a restaurant in Verbier called‘ La Vache’ that is proving very popular.
Carl is the latest in a number of high-profile speakers who have visited the School in the past year which have included TV presenter and broadcaster, Clare Balding and TV presenter and actor, Sir Tony Robinson.
On Thursday 31st May, the School is welcoming the UK’ s top-selling female historian, Alison Weir, in conjunction with Linghams and tickets are available for the public event through Linghams by calling 0151 342 7290.
Carbon Neutral B & M Waste Services continues to prove its position as the recycling-led solution for waste services with its primary focus on environmentally-responsible waste strategies.
Following the UK Government’ s further action in the‘ war on plastic’ with Theresa May announcing a 25-year environmental plan and a potential ban on single-use plastics, the Wirral-based waste services provider is working closely with organisations to maximise recycling efforts and reduce waste to landfill. They’ re also providing expert training to customers on how they can move up the waste hierarchy to reduce, re-use and recycle. The result? B & M Waste’ s customers are enjoying significant improvements in their environmental impact, as well as maximising cost efficiencies.
Neil Curtis, Managing Director at B & M Waste said“ As both a waste management company and a local, family-run business, we feel we have a corporate and social responsibility to reduce our environmental impact as much as we possibly can – then replicate that on behalf of our customers.”
Neil continued;“ We’ ll continue to work hard to develop new and innovative waste strategies that both support our customers and our community”.
