SUMMER STRUM RETURNS
FOR THE FOURTH YEAR
Following the resounding success of 2017, the Summer
Strum Hoylake Ukulele Festival has announced its
return for a fourth year running!
Two of the World’s greatest goalkeepers that made the
saves nobody expected them to, the stops which dropped
jaws, and won games single handedly are coming to
Wirral for an intimate evening at Gusto's in Heswall on
Sunday 3rd June 2018.
Headed by Pat Ross-Davies and Emma Owen, volunteers are busy
planning a bigger and better festival - staged at Hoylake Rugby Club
- for the Wirral community and beyond to enjoy for FREE!
Two music stages, jam sessions, open mic, workshops, artisan stalls,
food, drink, kids’ activities and, of course, a good dose of sunshine
will be the order of the weekend of 6th-8th July 2018.
Organised by Wirral based PlayFair Events, Bruce Grobbelaar and
Neville Southall will chat to the audience, and take part in an intimate
Q & A session. This year, there will be Yin Yan Ukuleles & Yoga and The Wellbeing
Campus have come on board to take up residence in the wellbeing
tent to give yoga, meditation and djembe drumming demo's.
Guests will also enjoy a three course meal, comedian, Beat the Legends
Quiz, Strand up bingo and a charity auction. All profits, raffle proceeds and collections over the weekend will
again be donated to Wirral Hospice St Johns and MIND in line with
the festival ethos of promoting wellbeing through music. Last year
over £3000 was shared between the charities - the aim this year is to
double this!
The event will be compered by Radio City’s Steve Weaver, whose
informal banter sets the tone for a wonderfully relaxed evening of fun
and entertainment.
Jamie Conroy, Managing Director at Playfair Events said: "This special
event promises to be a night of excellent entertainment and is the
perfect event for special celebrations and or those who would like to
entertain clients, colleagues or friends. We take the same meticulous
approach to creating our Sporting Legends’ Events as we do to hosting
our golf days, striving hard to exceed expectations and creating
fabulous memories to treasure for many years to come."
"All of our events feature unique elements which include: a professional
photographer who records the magic, the chance to go head to head
with the legends in a fun ‘superfan’ quiz, auction of signed pictures
and items from the legends, fundraising elements with great prizes in
support of Radio City’s Cash For Kids appeal, intimate venues allowing
guests to get closer to their sporting heroes, a VIP upgrade option
that allows guests to dine with the legends, delicious hot food and
comedians add an additional element of entertainment to the evening’s
proceedings."
Tickets are £50 per person. To book, visit: www.playfairevents.co.uk.
All musicians give their time for free in support of charity and
community and this year the festival has gone truly global as The
Sum of the Parts’ Jack ’n’ Jel from Australia include the event in their
UK itinerary. The duo will be performing and running a number of
workshops over the weekend.
