Alison is an acclaimed author and historian and has sold nearly 3 million books. This book explores the life of Jane Seymour from her childhood home known as Wulf Hall where she longed to be a nun and actually got to spend time in a convent, before deciding this life was not for her. To her ambitious family achieving plans for Jane to serve as a Lady in Waiting to Katherine of Aragon. As Jane enters Henry VIII’s court, it is nothing short of intrigue and treachery with Anne Boleyn casting her wiles over the King of England. Jane’s beloved mistress Queen Katherine is sent from court as Henry marries Anne Boleyn. Religious conflict tears the country apart as Henry proclaims himself the new head of the Church of England. Jane watches this with abject horror until Henry’s eye lights on her. The rest as they say is history. Alison uncovers new evidence on how Jane died and her relationship with Henry VIII. I loved this book and felt truly bereft at the end. Alison will be talking about this book at Birkenhead School on the 31st May 2018.
