GO GREEN IN MARCH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF CEREBRAL PALSY
LOCAL FUNDRAISER RECEIVES WIRRAL AWARD
Cerebral palsy charity Stick ‘ n ’ Step is asking schools , businesses and individuals across the region to ‘ go green ’ on National Cerebral Palsy Day on Thursday 25 March to show support and help raise awareness and funds .
Suggestions for ways to go green include dressing in green for the day , celebrating with a green cake bake off , decorating your home or workplace in green or having fun with some green-themed crafts .
The whole of March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month . Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that affects movement and coordination . It is the most common motor disability in childhood , with 1 in 400 babies estimated to be born every year in the UK with some form of it .
Interim head of fundraising Samantha Lee says , “ Our charity receives no government funding and we rely hugely on our wonderful local community to help us with our fundraising . Now , more than ever , we need help so we can continue providing life-changing support to the young people who attend our conductive education sessions and their families .”

Stick ‘ n ’ Step offers support services to children with cerebral palsy and their families . The charity provides the children with totally free of charge conductive education sessions , allowing them to gain the skills they need to live more independent lives . Over 100 children from across the region usually attend these sessions weekly or twice weekly at the charity ’ s Wallasey and Runcorn centres .
Danny de Brabander (# TeamDDB ) has been awarded the prestigious ‘ Wirral Award ’ by the Lord Mayor and the Regulatory and General Purposes Committee for ‘ Outstanding Achievement ’ for fundraising efforts in the local community .
Unfortunately for Danny , due to the current restrictions in respect of the Covid-19 pandemic , a dinner to be held in his honour cannot go ahead , however , arrangements are being made to present Danny with a certificate from the Lord Mayor together with a token of their appreciation , for his fundraising efforts for UTS Foundation , Clatterbridge Cancer Charity , Maggie ’ s Centre , Cancer Research UK , Arrowe Park Critical Care Team , and Wirral Food Bank .
Danny together with his charity # TeamDDB have now raised over £ 46,000 for these charities , and all whilst Danny continues to battle with Stage 4 Cancer .
In addition to the fundraising efforts Danny continued to raise vital awareness for bowel cancer with appearances in the local media , and recently on BBC ’ s The One Show . Early diagnosis of bowel cancer can mean successful treatment in 90 % of cases !
