WOODSIDE FERRY VILLAGE OPENS
ON WIRRAL’S WATERFRONT
Paula Basnett, CEO, Wirral Chamber of Commerce writes…
We are all looking forward to the opening of the
Woodside Ferry Village food hall, a great new addition to
Wirral’s waterfront in Birkenhead. Led by the Woodside
Area Community Interest Group, conversion work began
in May, and now the exciting food vendors have been
announced.
Liverpool based Bacaro, has added Woodside Ferry Village
to its successful Red and Blue Restaurants group. By using
their culinary expertise in creating freshly made pizzas,
using homemade doughs and Bacaro special recipes, will
undoubtedly broaden the appeal of Woodside Ferry Village
as a food destination for visitors and residents alike.
The award winning Caffe Cream has its third Wirral outlet
to provide brunch, lunch and dessert options through
cooked breakfasts - with locally sourced ingredients, its
own Wirral roasted coffee and homemade dairy and vegan
ice cream. Caffe Cream’s ice cream uses traditional Italian
batch production methods, including milks and creams
from local farms, along with ingredients from the best of
Italian flavour houses.
Cowfish Smokehouse menu of authentic American-styled
BBQ street foods will be well-prepared, quality produce
using traditional artisan Texan smoking methods. Its Chef/
Pitmaster, Sean Vinten, started at Wirral Met College and
then worked in Liverpool, France, Greece and the USA,
where on a trip to Texas, the home of the 'low & slow'
barbecue, gave Sean the food direction he was looking for.
EastZEast, a well-known food brand and household name
throughout the North West, will open its first Wirral
base, offering authentic foods of the Punjab, cooked fresh
with traditional spices. As one the region’s leading award
winning Asian restaurants, its menu will include Samosas,
Kebabs, Chicken Tikka, Signature Lamb Karahi, Chicken
Korma, Nans, Vegetable and Vegan Dishes.
The Refreshment Rooms began life in Rock Ferry,
developing a successful Gastro Pub menu which they
will bring to customers of Woodside Ferry Village. With
ingredients locally sourced wherever possible, its tasty and
wholesome dishes will include Beer Battered Cod, Steak
and Ale Pie, Homemade Scouse, Crispy Chicken Fillet,
Bangers ‘n’ Mash and a Chicken Sunday Special.
Sukhothai offers an authentic taste of Thailand through a
range of Thai street foods, created by the popular Chef Lily.
Lily started Sukhothai in 2016 having worked in kitchens
worldwide, but decided to open a restaurant in England,
and so Sukhothai was born. It has a large and loyal client
base by creating fresh and flavoursome mixes of Thai, Asian
and Fusion meals, such as Hand Rolled Duck Spring Rolls,
Chicken Satay Skewers, Thai Dim Sum with homemade
Thai Dim Sum Sauce, and Thai Style Halloumi.
Sharon Stanton, Interim Managing Director of Woodside
Ferry Village, summarised, “With Bacaro Pizza, Cowfish
Smokehouse, Sukhothai, Caffe Cream, EastZEast and The
Refreshment Rooms on board, the diverse food dishes they
will be all serving will make Woodside not only a place to
visit but also bring new life to this fantastic building and the
surrounding areas.”
