" Whenever I meet a friend of my Grandad ’ s they usually have an outrageous tale to recall . An honorary mention goes to the time Phil & friends drank a rather special bottle of brandy that belonged to a very famous person , it was a Napoleon ’ s brandy which they all really enjoyed . When the owner of the brandy returned , he asked where it had gone , they told him not to worry and that they would go to the shop and replace it . They were then told that it wasn ’ t just any old Napoleon Brandy but it was in fact THE Napoleons brandy . There are too many tales like this to recount and we , as grandchildren , have heard so many stories growing up , stories so fantastic and outlandish that we didn ’ t believe half of them but they were all true .
" Something that has brought me comfort during his passing is reminding myself that Grandad managed to live more than most , never mind a lifetime . He went out and got what he wanted , apologising to nobody for it and he was a man ahead of his time . I will remember his bold attitude towards life and every time I think of not going after what I want , I ’ ll think of him ."
Phil ' s funeral was held at Christ Church , Higher Bebington on Wednesday 29th June 2022 .
