COMEDY LEGEND JOINS FORCES WITH JOIE TO PRESENT MINIBUS
Stan Boardman loves a round of golf ! Teaming his love for the game and his passion for his community , the local legend hosted a Variety Golf event , kindly sponsored by Joie , in order to raise funds for a sunshine coach which they were delighted to present to Willaston Community Farm on the Wirral .
Stan Boardman ’ s charity work for Variety and Variety Golf has grown since his award of their prestigious Silver Heart in 2013 . To date he has helped raise funds for over 200 coaches for underprivileged children up and down the country including Cheshire and Merseyside .
“ I didn ' t have a good start in life ,” says Stan , “ bombed out in 1941 in Kirkdale Liverpool , on the dole for a few years . I ’ ve been there , that ’ s why the charity is close to my heart . My luck changed in 1976 after winning a talent show and appearing on Opportunity Knocks .
“ My life changed overnight , and suddenly I was driving all over the country trying to do as many shows as I could . In between times , I was being asked to support various charities , one of which was the Variety Club of Great Britain . My first event for them was at The Holiday Inn Liverpool , covering for Ken Dodd ! It ' s fantastic having Joie , a baby brand with family values sponsoring Variety Golf events , it ' s wonderful support for the children ' s charity ”
Joie , the award-winning baby brand is one of the major sponsors of Variety Golf and along with comedian Stan , has worked hard to raise funds , with the last event raising over £ 40,000 and more importantly funding another Sunshine coach .
Joie is a global baby gear brand founded in 2011 and its products are designed with families at its heart , which is why causes like Variety are so important to the company . Joie cares deeply about the wellbeing of children , treasuring the importance of families and works hard to champion their values , their welfare and their futures .
Managing Director of Joie , David Welsh said : “ We are delighted to be able to support Variety Golf and present this minibus to Willaston Community Farm , we hope it will help Willaston to go on providing the excellent support it gives to the community through its education and training courses ”
Willaston Community Farm is a community interest company dedicated to the advancement of education and the improvement of well-being for all age groups , run by director Tobi Adetunji . They work with schools , colleges , and Job Centres , promote local independent businesses as well as working with the department for works and pensions to deliver accredited training courses which are packed with fun , adventure and education . They also work with OLLY the children ’ s charity and Cheshire West and Chester Council to provide mental health activities for children and adults with additional needs .
Paul Jackson , CEO said , “ The future is looking bright at the farm and we intend to expand the sunshine coach to all our services and the youths of our surrounding community , we are so grateful for all the hard work and support from Stan and David Welsh of Joie , and we are thrilled that the local community and Hassan Hijazi and Lisa Breakspear of Cheshire West and Chester Council along with Birkenhead MP Mick Whitely could join us for the presentation and the most memorable day at the farm .”
