THE GOLFSIXES LEAGUE
After an anticipated two year wait , the Golf Foundations GolfSixes League finally teed off at Leasowe Golf Club . Angela Dale , the founder of The Wirral Golf Academy was responsible for bringing the league to the Wirral for the very first time and her academy was amongst four other local Wirral golf clubs who participated in the event that is aimed to create a fun and relaxed playing environment for children who are beginning or improving their golf .
Angela Dale , Junior Organiser The Wirral Golf Academy told us “ I can ’ t believe it ’ s finally happened , it ' s been so long in the making . The playing format is easy for the kids and parents to understand , especially the non-playing parents . All are able to feel part of it . It ’ s a huge relief that everything went well , and I look forward to the rest of the season and beyond ”.
Andy Leigh , Regional Development Officer , Golf Foundation Charity said “ I ’ m delighted that the latest North West instalment of GolfSixes League initiative is here on The Wirral . There is a great history of golf here and many opportunities for golfers of all abilities . It is very well supported and great to see . The aim is to give the chance to those children and young people who are currently learning the skills to make that step to play more golf but in a format that they want ”.
“ All of our feedback suggests that GolfSixes League offers a real opportunity to help change the perceptions of golf among the wider public , which is priceless for the sport and a possible game changer for junior golf ”.
