TIME FOR A HOLIDAY ? YOU MUST BE JOKING !
BY CHRISTIAN COVENTRY , CONCEPT MORTGAGES
Usually when you get to the end of a holiday , its tinged with a bit of sadness as the good times have come to an end and you only then have the memories to think back on . In terms of the Stamp Duty Holiday , I can honestly say that as the first phase of the scheme closes , I along with many of my colleagues will happily be waving it off into the sunset !
We are all grateful for the work of course and I am sure the buyers who have managed to complete in time will be glad of their tax savings , but it ’ s fair to say that everyone involved in the housing market from Estate Agents , Solicitors , Lenders , Surveyors and Mortgage Advisers deserve a well-earned pat on the back and a few weeks on a socially distanced beach to recover from what has been the most insanely busy period of a generation of both home buyers and sellers .
So , what now ? Freedom Day is soon to be upon us , assuming there are no last-minute changes from the Government and we can hopefully spend our summer holidays doing those normal things with our friends and family which seem such a distant memory .
Sporting and music events are now back on the menu , as are festivals . Although any Glastonbury fans will have to wait until next year before they get to grace the fields of Worthy Farm .
Comedy Festivals are also back , and I am delighted to say that Concept Mortgages are sponsoring Chester
Comedy Festival ’ s search for their first ever New Comedian of the year ! There have so far been over 100 applicants and the competition will no doubt act as a great springboard to new talent .
The applications will be whittled down to eight finalists who will perform at the live Grand Final at Chester Market on Thursday July 15th , and I will be one of the judging panel for the eventual winner .
I performed at the last Chester Comedy festival in 2019 and managed to bag the coveted Saturday night spot in the Cathedral and performed to a sell-out crowd earning a standing ovation in the process . Not bad for my second gig !
This year ’ s festival will be the biggest and best to date with 35 Comedians from TV , the national and international comedy circuit performing over 12 days at diverse and unique venues across the city Including Chester Cathedral , Storyhouse , Chester Racecourse and many other pubs and restaurants within the historic walled city .
