THE SOUND OF MUSIC... BY DIANE TREMARCO LOCAL ARTIST CD'S Here are a few CD’s to keep you entertained if you are still confined to barracks. Also, it is worth looking up a few Facebook feeds of local artists performing on a regular basis: Jaie Lupton, Mark Kenny, Paul Kappa and Billy Myers to name but a few. With her single 'That girl Jolene' gaining the number one spot on US TV show 'Next stop Nashville,' A top 5 spot for 'best original rock artist' from the International Singer Songwriter Association in 2019, plus 'Independent rock anthem of the year' from Belter Radio (2019) her edgy style, and unique sound, described by some as "Alternative Pop Driven Blues Rock," is certainly starting to get recognition. Amber Wilding Stone was born and bred in Wirral and for the last ten years has been treading the boards at local venues. Lyrically "Bold, Unapologetic and unashamedly honest" her songs have been described as having a particularly authentic and accessible feel as if torn sheets from pages of a diary, unedited, unfiltered, and with no flowers added; sealed moments of pent up emotion, gift wrapped in music. "One of those girls they name hurricanes after..." A lyric from her single 'That Girl Jolene,’ although not originally written with herself in mind, has quickly become the synonymous phrase now used to describe the self-penned dirt blonde roots and cowboy boots singer. Described as a "vocal storyteller," narratives are passionately played out through unique, rock powered and country lilting vocals; often theatrically charged, colourfully animating catchy with memorable hooks. Musically, it is difficult to nail down a specific genre to her compositions, as in her own words, they "like to find their own way." There are undoubtedly Alternative, Pop and Rock elements, with unexpected twists of Country and Blues, while a Retro Nostalgic feel; spanning her favourite nuances of different decades, seems underpin her work. With three released singles gaining in popularity around the globe, airing on radio stations in the UK, Australia and USA, industry professionals and Radio are frequently commenting on "genius lyrics" and love the "fresh, unique & quirky" combination of genres. Always writing, Amber has been using this period of Lockdown as a muse for creativity and self-reflection, which is prevalent in the coming debut Album. The original record was halted from an intended May release, and has since been reworked in her home studio, where she has been enjoying producing, and honing her concept and production. With the inability to come together in a room, the process has been an eyeopening experience to what people can bring together from afar. Friends and musicians Paul Rogan (Lead guitar) and David Tolley (Bass) have been instrumental in allowing the tracks written in lockdown to be realised, and overall completion of the project. For Amber the record is very much a concept piece, with enough catchy tunes to make it accessible across the board; a peak into a diary, snap shots of feeling, and an in-depth look into the workings of her chaotic inner world. Written, recorded and produced by her own hand, learning the ropes along the way, it has been a true labour of love. Although very much a solo project, with herself arranging drums, playing rhythm guitars and vocals. Amber would like to thank Ian Granton and Paul Rogan for the sparkles of lead guitar that really elevate the songs to another level, and to David Tolley for the Bass that gels everything together. Her Debut Album 'Hard to love' featuring singles 'That girl Jolene,' 'Dirt blonde roots' and 'What's she Got?' as well as new track 'Beauty and Disaster' is set to be released August 2020.
