It’s hot hot hot... with scorching record temperatures here at Cars and Coffee Liverpool. It’s
very difficult to pass up the chance to spend the day cleaning your motor, even during the
nail-biting, unpredictable World Cup.
The glorious June weather brought everyone out, reminding me of a dazzling flower show, a full
spectrum of colourful vehicles, the photographs taken express more than words.
Remember we talked highly about the AC Shelby Cobra in a previous issue? A well known
gentleman in the Ferrari world kindly brought over an original red 1964 AC Cobra. Interestingly
enough, owned by a guy who was in the secret service as a submariner, and when buying the
car - the buyer and seller never met. The transaction was completed by a second party! Talk
about hidden identity. Hence, why we love everything about the car community, it’s not just
about what they own. The most interesting and best part is unlocking, unravelling the stories
and embracing this within the community. It’s like being a car historian.
Remember the 1968 movie ‘Bullitt’ staring Frank Bullitt’s (Steve McQueen’s) car? It’s a 1968
Ford Mustang 390 GT 2+2 Fastback. The bad guys drive a 1968 Dodge Charger 440 Magnum.
The Charger is just barely faster than the Mustang, with a 13.6-second quarter-mile compared
to the Mustang’s 13.8-second.
The unforgettable chase scenes through the streets of San Francisco. One exact looking car
turned up for the first time. Ryan, the avid classic car buff was so cool, he even wears a pair of
classic leather driving gloves to wrangle this high powered muscular beast. For those in the
know about this model, I was told this Mustang left the factory with an ‘S’ code engine being
exact spec as the Bullitt car Steve McQueen drove.
I’m sure Ryan will fit amongst the Cars and Coffee Liverpool members, he was surprised how
many American cars came to visit.
We are proud of all our members, petrolholics, sponsors, friends and family of Cars and Coffee
