BRETT JONES 10K With torrential rain and warm winds threatening the start of the 4th annual Brett Jones ‘HEAVYWEIGHT’ 10K Fun Run, over 100 senior runners and 25 junior’s turned up to pay tribute to the memory of Brett whilst raising funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club and Prenton Rugby Club. A sea of blue memorial t-shirts paraded the now familiar route along the Wirral coastline. The quickest time posted on the day was Gregg Jones in 35:58 from Wallasey Athletics club and the quickest female was Zoe Brunton from Merseytri clocking 43:43. There were memorable moments ‘Boxing with Brett’ at the turn point and the familiar ringing of the ‘Last Half Memorial Bell’. Congratulations to all the runners, joggers, walkers, pram- pushers, dog walkers and wig-wearers for making this such a special event. The rain did stop and the sun did shine with plenty of hugs and smiles crossing the finish line. A huge thanks as always to Hoylake Community Centre, The Brett Jones event organisers, helpers, marshalls, time keepers, masseurs, photographers and Neston 2375 Squadron of Air Cadets. Presentations were made at a well-attended prize giving evening held at Prenton Rugby Club. We look forward to welcoming you for some more ‘HEAVYWEIGHT’ fun again next year.
