W BUSINESS L WIRRAL BASED BLOCKWALLS EXPANDS TO DUBAI AND INDIA Wirral based Blockwalls™ is expanding to Dubai and India in 2018 using its novel patented technology for its giant concrete ‘lego-style’ block systems. Blockwalls™ was founded by Jonathan Quinn a Wirral based serial entrepreneur in 2010. Blockwalls™ are a bespoke concrete block manufacturer based in Bromborough who provide solutions to civil, groundwork and infrastructure projects specialising in retaining walls and material bays. The blocks are assembled to allow structures to be built instantaneously without the need for intensive labour hours or expensive joining techniques. Blockwalls™ can be assembled in any weather making them a cost-effective alternative to comparable steel soil reinforcement or conventional reinforced concrete retaining walls. The blocks are precast at their site in Bromborough which results in easy availability and faster construction. Blockwalls™ can also build these walls at least twice as high as anyone else globally due to the novel patent they hold which adds a unique interlocking system and allows a higher build – up to 8m using their unique “R” blocks. Blockwalls™ have recently announced an expansion into Dubai working with CAST Aluminium Industries who are the GCC region’s leading aluminium recyclers. Whilst working in Dubai, as they have been here, Blockwalls™ will be providing clients with their choice of concrete grade and offer bespoke mixes. CEO Jonathan Quinn is very happy with this approach and has said “We help clients within a circular economy by allowing them to use their own materials that would have otherwise been waste to manufacture concrete blocks for use in infrastructure. This leads large clients to reduce carbon footprint and assists with their corporate and social responsibilities (CSR)”. They are also expanding into India with deals on the table from two well-known companies within the Indian construction sector. The 80 wirrallife.com Indian target market is an upcoming breakthrough for Blockwalls™ to provide their solutions for large scale challenging projects through their partner company Enstastructur headed by Vighnesh Daas who had joined Blockwalls™ initially as a KTP Associate with Queen’s University Belfast as a Research Associate. With the rapid speed of expansion of projects in India, Blockwalls™ products are ideally placed to cause a stir in a fast-developing infrastructure sector which has seen billions of Rupees go into the types of projects Blockwalls™ have successfully implemented in the U.K. with the likes of ATKINS, AECOM, Subsea 7, Vinci Construction, B&M Waste services etc. The popularity of Blockwalls™ in addressing challenging situations was best showcased in the Chelsea flower show earlier this year. They were instrumental in the winning ‘M&G Garden’ designed by acclaimed landscape architect James Basson which was inspired by the principals of ecological sustainability. After receiving European funding from Wirral Chamber through the Regional Growth Fund which supports the growth of businesses, Blockwalls expanded their business and have been being an active participant in development of the local community through the “Back to Work” scheme. Blockwalls, with their philosophy of constantly innovating and exploring techniques to produce novel solutions for all clients & global partners, are expanding steadily and continue to be steered towards sustainable development of their products. By offering versatility within concrete products previously unseen by the construction industry, their growth is set to be “one to watch out for” in the coming years. Blockwalls™ are in the process of securing other global partners with the help of the Wirral Chamber of commerce.
