INTERIOR INSPIRATION BY KATE KINGSTON Kate Kingston, Managing Director of Kingston Shaw, an award winning interior design company with offices on the Wirral, London and Dubai, shares with us the latest trends for creating the perfect home. 2018 INTERIOR TREND PREDICATIONS Happy New Year to you! Over the festive period we have been busy gathering up our predictions for the trends that will prove popular in interiors this year. If you want to get a head of the trend here’s the best place to start. HANG TOUGH The naked wall is so 2017, wallpaper has gone, what the best dressed walls will be wearing this year is art. Paint your walls in dark hues and get hanging your wall art, plates, animal heads and anything else you can get your mitts on. It is about expression of personality and 3 dimensional living. TROPICAL FOLIAGE The trend for all things tropical continues strongly in interiors in 2018 but we are predicting that your tableware will be all things botanical. We love the ceramics from House of Hackney. DON’T FORGET TO LOOK UP One of our prediction’s that will sweep the interiors of the nation this year is Statement Ceilings. An often neglected part of the décor, ceilings can and will make a statement. Wallpaper, baton, paint in a feature colour whatever you decide to do, don’t keep it magnolia! MIXED METALS We were all about Chrome, then Stainless Steel, a few of us loved our Rose Gold but they were kept apart like family members who clash at weddings, but now the design gods have allowed us to mix and match, throw caution to the wind and use chrome and brass together, scream ‘I dare to care’ about mixing the metallics. GO TO THE DARK SIDE Not for everyone, but we love our predication that things are going moody and dark. Inky blue walls, sultry hues of dark green and amber rich oranges, or go completely Goth and matt black the walls and furniture – drama has never looked so glamorous. 54 wirrallife.com
