W NEWS L SANDBROOK KIDS REVEAL MAGENTA LIVING NEW STREET NAMES Children from a local primary school in Moreton have made history by choosing street names for a new housing development, which is replacing the tower blocks in Melrose and Thornridge. Magenta Living is in the process of building 38 affordable homes; 34 houses and four apartments and the two new streets will be named as ‘Oxholme Close’ and ‘Thornfield Close’. Nine children from Sandbrook Primary School received a prize for their winning suggestions; 5 year old Safi Nasir, and 7 year olds - Scarlett Murray, Sophie Jones, Bobby Evans, Boran Duzen, Syed Ahmed, Cole Jameson, Lilly Williams, Ryan Armbruster. ‘Thornfield Close’ was influenced by the thorns growing close by in the fields. And the second name, ‘Oxholme Close’ was inspired by the name of a farming field that used to be on the site many years ago. Brian Simpson, Chief Executive of Magenta Living, Councillor Ron Abbey and Chris Moss from Seddon Construction, where all on hand to thank the children. Brian says: “Our vision is to provide homes and build communities where all can thrive and working closely with schools and community groups on new developments ensures we can achieve this. The children from Sandbrook Primary were a delight, and their input will now form part of Wirral’s history.” SMUDGE BOUTIQUE RETURNS TO METQUARTER The Metquarter is delighted to announce the return of Smudge Boutique – a family-run business with a personal touch. BEBINGTON GLAZING ENCOURAGES OWNERS TO TACKLE PROPERTY PROBLEMS A recent UK study, which surveyed owners of 3.2 million properties, found that 18% described their homes as ‘ticking time bombs’ of repairs, refurbishments and problems, costing up to £2,500 a year to maintain. The survey, undertaken by insurers LV=, also found that the most common household complaint was faulty double glazing (19%). Managing Director of Bebington Glazing Kay Finlay said: “The statistics found by LV=’s recent survey are certainly surprising, but here at Bebington Glazing, we have encountered many homeowners who have brushed property problems under the carpet only to be hit with huge costs when each of the issues become an emergency. Of those surveyed, the top complaint was faulty double glazing, an essential element of any home during the colder months. We encourage all homeowners to contact us in the first instance should they notice smaller problems with their existing double glazing installations including excess condensatio n, draughts, leaks or small chips and cracks, as if the problem is caught early on, it can be much easier to repair and maintain.” wirrallife.com 7
