THE SHREDFAST WORLD TAKE OVER: THE KETTLEBELL KING
BY ANDY NEWTON LEE
When Luke Powell walks into a room, energy levels shift. Charismatic, disciplined, and laser-focused, he’ s the driving force behind ShredFast- a fitness movement that’ s redefining what it means to train both body and mind.
I first encountered Luke in late 2022, at the dawn of Heal Wellbeing- the sleek evolution of Liverpool Yoga Studios, now one of the city’ s most dynamic wellness hubs. Nestled in the heart of Liverpool City Centre, the space radiated a new kind of atmosphere: not just fitness-focused, but community-driven, social, and holistic.
Luke saw the shift coming. He sensed the future of wellness wasn’ t in isolated sweat sessions- it was in connection, community, and mindset. In the years since, he’ s grown an audience of over half a million followers through his ShredFast Fitness App, opened a second headquarters in Dubai, and established himself as a global ambassador for modern movement.
Five years on, ShredFast has become more than just a workout- it’ s a phenomenon. Built around a deceptively simple kettlebellbased methodology, Luke ' s motto,‘# AnyBodyCan’, has become both a mantra and mission. The program merges high-intensity functional training using Kettlebells along with mindset development and recovery- three pillars that together form the foundation of his rapidly expanding empire.
The ShredFast Athlete Academy: Where Movement Meets Mindset
Walk into a ShredFast studio, and you’ ll feel it- energy that hums with focus, grit, and camaraderie. But this isn’ t just about breaking sweat. Luke’ s vision goes deeper, transforming his spaces into incubators for purpose, growth, and second chances.
Former athletes, young parents, and professionals from every background come here not just to train- but to rebuild. Among them is Lee Laverty, one of ShredFast’ s earliest recruits and graduates of the ' Athlete ' programme. Lee is now one of ShredFast ' s most inspirational success stories.
ShedFast Athlete: Lee Laverty You’ ve had quite a transformation, Lee. How did it all begin?
“ I started following Luke’ s Instagram in 2020,” Lee begins.“ I was a huge admirer of the way he helped people. At the time, I couldn’ t afford a personal trainer, so when the online program launched, I signed up immediately.”
What followed was an honest journey of self-discovery.“ I was unfit, my mental health was suffering, and to put it bluntly, I couldn’ t even do one press-up. My first workout started with 50,” he laughs.
But beneath the humour lies a raw truth. For three years, Lee battled between self-improvement and addiction.“ I was stuck in a cycle,” he admits.“ By late 2021, I was in debt, lost, and thinking seriously about ending my life. That’ s when I turned to faith for the first time.”
Three weeks later, life changed: Lee learned he was expecting his first child.“ That moment grounded me. I wanted to give my child the kind of stability I never had,” he says.“ So I chose to fight.”
By 2022, Lee was working as a data analyst, but something inside him kept calling for more.“ Every Sunday, I’ d sit in a café, mapping out a plan to change my life. I reached out to Luke and told him I wanted to be part of ShredFast.”
