THE MANOR by Si Hall & Nicky Rigby

The Manor in Greasby has long been a favourite for diners seeking refined British cooking in a warm, characterful setting. When stepping into The Manor you will find yourself in a beautifully restored 17th-century manor house, a Grade 2 listed building full of history, character and rustic charm, which has been re-imagined with a comfortable and contemporary design, an ideal setting for relaxed everyday dining or special occasions alike.
The elegant interiors, soft lighting, exposed beams, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels both special and familiar. Its location in the village centre, makes it a perfect retreat for a leisurely dinner or celebratory meal, and the attentive service only enhances the sense of occasion. The menu reflects a confident kitchen that balances classic flavours with modern flair, showcasing local and seasonal ingredients with real finesse, treated with precision, plated with style, and brought together with a generosity that never disappoints.
Whether you’ re meeting friends for drinks, a leisurely meal, or an event, The Manor promises not just great food but a genuine sense of hospitality, making it one of Greasby’ s most inviting and versatile dining destinations.
STARTERS The prawn and crayfish tian arrives as a vibrant tower of delicacy layered through with the gentle richness of the Marie Rose sauce. San Marzano tomatoes add acidity and depth, while the soused cucumber brings freshness. It’ s their twist on a classic starter, skilfully executed with a light hand, balanced, colourful, and particularly moreish.
The salmon gravlax is a plate for diners who appreciate nuance. Its silky, subtly cured slices are paired with jewel-bright heritage beetroot that adds earthiness. Charred orange to offset the fish’ s sweetness, and the fennel vierge finishes the dish. We personally stated that we could live on this.
The twice-baked Collier’ s cheddar soufflé Pure indulgence. Warm, airy, and intensely savoury, it sits in a pool of creamed cheese gratin that doubles down on richness without overwhelming. A parsley and garlic crumb adds texture, while the accompanying Waldorf salad is a hit of freshness, apple, celery, and walnuts nicely adds to the decadence.
The crispy pork belly This starter is another standout- beautifully rendered fat, crisp crackling, and tender meat brought together with a cooling celeriac remoulade. The apple and nutmeg sauce adds both nostalgia and warmth, enriching the pork without masking its flavour. Every element is thoughtfully tuned.
MAINS The roasted venison haunch was cooked to a perfect blushing tenderness, it pairs with buttery, layered Pommes Anna and silky creamed Savoy cabbage. Girolle mushrooms add an woodland note, while the cocoa and red wine jus offers a subtle bitterness that enhances the venison’ s natural sweetness.
The seared fillet of trout was equally impressive, crisp-skinned yet delicate. It sits atop a luxurious crab and shrimp risotto- creamy, deeply flavoured, with a soft poached egg with a sharp and herbal gribiche sauce
The oven-roasted chicken breast showcases how a simple dish can shine when executed so precisely. Moist chicken meets a crisp-edged celeriac and thyme rösti, with parsnip purée and hispi cabbage. Smoked pancetta ties everything together with its savoury punch..
The steak, ale and mushroom pie offers comfort done properly: golden pastry, a substantial rich and hearty filling, and a choice between crisp hand-cut chips or silky champ mash, with crushed peas and red wine jus.
DESSERTS The dark chocolate marquise is a choc-lover’ s dream, smooth, intense, and offset perfectly by pistachio anglaise and a scoop of pistachio ice cream that brings a nutty touch. The passion fruit tart is bright and tangy, its citrus compote adding zing while chantilly cream softens the sharper edges. Finally, the Bailey’ s Irish cream trifle is a playful, modern take on a classic. Layers of ginger parkin, cherry, crème diplomat, and mascarpone chantilly create a dessert that is rich, nostalgic and refined.
In summary At Wirral Life, we celebrate places that feel authentic, while having their own often unique high quality take on everything. The Manor in Greasby really impresses at every turn, confident, elegant, and carefully crafted for diners who value an array of generous dishes to suit every desire, with a thoughtful creative use of interesting flavours from a brilliant skilled team.
