WIRRAL LIFE TALKS TO JOANNE THEXTON
THE CREATIVE HEART BEHIND WIRRAL GRAZING
Wirral Grazing is a local business all about bringing people together through beautiful food. From stunning graze tables to perfectly packed boxes for two and stylish graze cones for smaller gatherings, Joanne combines her love of food, family, and creativity to make every occasion feel special.
What inspired you to start Wirral Grazing? I’ ve always loved food and the way it brings people together. Creating graze tables felt like the perfect way to combine my love of creativity, flavour, and connection- and it’ s just grown from there!
What do you love most about what you do? Seeing people gather around one of my tables or enjoying a little graze box or cone- that’ s what I love most. It’ s those shared smiles and happy moments that make it all worthwhile.
What makes Wirral Grazing special? Every table, cone, or box is made with care and creativity. I focus on fresh ingredients, beautiful presentation, and those little details that make people say“ wow” when they see it.
What kind of occasions are your graze tables and cones perfect for? Honestly, almost anything! Weddings, birthdays, baby showers, business events, or small gatherings with friends. The cones are perfect for mingling or outdoor events, and the boxes for two make lovely gifts or date-night treats.
What’ s your favourite part of the job? The creativity. I love watching everything come together— from a blank table to a beautiful display— and knowing it’ s going to make someone’ s day that bit more special.
What’ s your dream for Wirral Grazing? To keep growing locally and become known across the Wirral for beautiful, fresh, and friendly grazing. I’ d love to keep helping people celebrate life’ s moments with great food and good company.
What’ s your favourite thing to include on a graze table? Definitely a really good soft cheese or something seasonal and colourful- it adds so much character and brings everything to life.
How do you come up with your designs? I always start with the visual- colours, shapes, and textures— and then build the flavours around that. I love creating something new every time, so no two setups are ever the same.
What’ s life like behind the scenes? Busy, but full of joy! I have a lovely, lively family who keep me on my toes, but they’ re also my biggest cheerleaders. They inspire me every day.
Tell us something people might not know about you? I have an Honours degree in Public Health, which has been a huge help when it comes to food safety and hygiene— it’ s something I take very seriously.
