ADAM PARTRIDGE AUCTIONEERS & VALUERS 2025 REVIEW & 2026 PREVIEW
ADAM PARTRIDGE AUCTIONEERS & VALUERS 2025 REVIEW & 2026 PREVIEW
Auctioneer and television personality Adam Partridge reflects on an“ industrious & illustrious” calendar of auctions at the Liverpool Saleroom in 2025.
“ We have showcased over 11,500 lots in our Liverpool auctions this year, achieving some excellent results for our vendors” comments Adam.“ My personal favourite was the beautiful and unique maquette of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson by Liverpudlian artist and sculptor Edward Carter Preston”. Unsurprisingly, the item was hotly contested at the September Specialist Maritime & Militaria Auction, by bidders globally, and achieved the impressive hammer price of £ 9,400.
The Specialist Jewellery, Watches, Coins & Silver auctions in Liverpool have gone from strength to strength throughout the year, reflected in some excellent sold prices. July’ s sale saw a rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date platinum Superlative Chronometer wristwatch achieve £ 13,000, alongside an 18ct yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date Superlative Chronometer which sold for £ 8,000 – a greatly entertaining day for the horophiles in the room!
Earlier in the year a Victorian mourning bracelet in the form of a large engraved oval locket, enclosing a watercolour portrait of Mr F. C. Huthwaite and retailed by renowned jewellers Hunt & Roskell, Late Storr & Mortimer no less, sold for £ 2,000. In fact, it has been an excellent year for jewellery across all four of Adam’ s busy auctions rooms. In October, The London Saleroom achieved two stellar prices, £ 90,000 for Van Cleef & Arpels suite of 18ct yellow gold yellow sapphire and diamond set jewellery and £ 332,000 for an unmounted emerald cut sapphire.
In May, The Liverpool Saleroom successfully auctioned a rare set of twelve George II hall chairs, originally purchased by the vendor from Christies on-site sale at Croxteth Hall, Liverpool, 17th September 1973, for £ 7,000, highlighting that there is still a strong market for fine vernacular furniture.
Other highlights from across the Adam Partridge Salerooms( London, Devon & Macclesfield) include £ 21,000 for a 19th century Chinese gilt bronze jewelled figure of Manjushri Bodhisattva, £ 12,000 for a Chinese carved hardstone disc on stand, and £ 5,200 for a rare Art Deco bakelite‘ Futuran’ mantel clock.
Looking ahead into 2026 there are ten scheduled Specialist Auctions including Silver, Jewellery, Watches, Coins, Boutique
Items, Books, Militaria, Maritime Items, Rock & Pop Memorabilia, Furniture, Fine Art, Toys, Wines & Spirits and much more.“ As much as I am looking forward to some down time over the festive period and enjoying some time with my family, I am excited to see what 2026 will reveal to me and the rest of the team at Adam Partridge Auctioneers” observes Adam.“ I am still as excited by this industry as I was when I first started out, and it is down to anticipation of what and who could come through my door. The old adage about doing something that you love and never working a day in your life could not be more apt!”
The Liverpool auctions begin promptly in the New Year with a Specialist Asian Art & Antiques Auction on 8th & 9th January. Pictured above is a beautiful Chinese Qianlong bronze vessel with a pedestal base measuring 18.5cm high x 16cm, estimated at £ 3,000- £ 4,000 in this auction. The vessel, along with other beautiful Asian Works of Art from a private collection in Wavertree, Liverpool, will be available to view online over the festive period.
