SPREAD A LITTLE JOY THIS CHRISTMAS – HELP BRING SMILES TO THE ELDERLY ON THE WIRRAL
‘ 5K A DAY’ CHARITY RUN FOR CANCER
This Christmas, around 590,000 older people in the UK won’ t see or speak to anyone on Christmas Day. Even more heartbreakingly, 1.4 million will eat their Christmas dinner alone.
We want to change that— and we need your help.
In conjunction with Age UK Wirral and Wirral Life Magazine, we’ re putting together Christmas Gift Bags to bring some joy to elderly people on the Wirral who may be spending Christmas alone— whether at home or in local care homes.
A small act of kindness can make a huge difference to someone who might otherwise go without a smile this festive season.
We’ re collecting:
• Gloves
• Scarves
• Body wash / shower wash( no bath items)
• Socks
• Slipper socks with grippers
• Chocolates
• Diabetic sweets & chocolate
• Mini Christmas cakes
• Little cuddly toys( they love a teddy!)
• Colouring pens and a pad
• Woolly hats
How You Can Help? You can drop off your donations at Phoenix Solicitors, Argyle Street, Birkenhead, or if you’ d prefer, you can make a monetary donation and we’ ll purchase and fill the bags on your behalf.

Victoria Crowden, owner of Revive Spin and Stretch in Hoylake, led a team of 12 incredible women— all nonrunners— to complete a 5km run every day throughout September in support of Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
Victoria and her husband, Neil Crowden, run a charity called The Captain’ s Trust and pledged to match every penny raised during the challenge. So far, the total stands at £ 15,000, with donations still coming in.
Inspired by the team’ s efforts and the cause, Victoria has decided to continue the challenge— running 5km every day for 100 days— with the aim of increasing the total to £ 20,000.
“ We are so fortunate to have Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital right on our doorstep, providing vital care and hope to so many,” Victoria said.“ That includes my husband Neil, who is currently receiving immunotherapy at Clatterbridge.”
The Captain’ s Trust is a Wirral-based registered charity that supports local organisations, charities, and individuals living with cancer and chronic illness.
