BoBo West Kirby: A Taste of the Iberian Peninsula on the Wirral
There’ s something instantly uplifting about stepping into BoBo West Kirby. Tucked in the heart of this seaside town, BoBo brings the warmth, hospitality and flavour of the Iberian Peninsula to the Wirral, offering a dining experience that feels both stylish and deeply personal. Inspired by the traditional Portuguese tasca— a kind of neighbourhood bar and eatery— BoBo has been designed as a ' home from home ': a place where good food, good people and good times come together.
Now open from 9am, BoBo serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, seamlessly taking you from morning coffee to evening wine with equal attention to detail. Whether you’ re popping in for a quick pastel de nata with your cappuccino, gathering with friends for tapas, or sitting down to celebrate over a full dinner, the welcome is always warm and the service refreshingly genuine. It’ s this spirit of connection— of strangers becoming friends— that makes BoBo stand out as a true community hub in West Kirby.
Breakfast with Soul Breakfast at BoBo sets the tone for the day. We began with the avocado toast, beautifully presented with an avocado rose perched on a vibrant tomato salsa, all atop homemade focaccia. Light, fresh and full of colour, it’ s the sort of dish that turns a simple breakfast into a little occasion.
Equally tempting is the Huevos Rotos— soft scrambled eggs on homemade focaccia, topped with slices of smoky chorizo. Paired with a morning mimosa( because why not?), it’ s the kind of plate that feels both comforting and indulgent. BoBo’ s breakfast offering is a quiet revelation: Iberian influences woven into familiar favourites, served with relaxed charm.
Lunch with Character By lunchtime, the space buzzes with a mix of locals catching up and visitors discovering a new favourite spot. The BoBo Cheeseburger is a star in its own right— juicy, bone-marrow infused patties layered with tomato, lettuce and gherkin, all tucked inside a soft shoku pan bun. Rich, flavourful and perfectly executed, it’ s comfort food elevated.
For something lighter, the Serrano Ham Sandwich is a winner: thin slices of serrano ham with fresh tomato salsa, served on a homemade olive oil roll. Simple yet it captures exactly what BoBo does best— quality ingredients, carefully prepared, that allow flavours to shine.
Dinner, Iberian Style As evening falls, BoBo transforms into an intimate dining destination, perfect for relaxed meals or special occasions. We sampled three standout dishes from the dinner menu, each one offering its own story.
The Confit Pork Belly is rich and decadent, paired beautifully with an apple and fig chutney, braised kale, peas, and a glossy red wine jus. A scattering of crackling adds crunch, while honey roasted fig balances sweetness with savoury depth. It’ s a dish that demonstrates real kitchen craft, both indulgent and refined.
The Pan Roasted Cod is equally impressive, cooked in brown butter and herbs until tender and golden. Served with a silky romesco sauce, Spanish-style potato panadero, and crispy kale, it’ s a plate that feels light yet satisfying, layered with authentic Iberian flavours.
And of course, no BoBo visit would be complete without the Piri Piri Chicken— a signature dish that has quickly become a house classic. Chargrilled, smoky, and generously glazed with a rich, buttery piri piri sauce, it arrives with seasonal salad and golden fries: a simple, flavourpacked celebration of Iberian comfort cooking.
A Place for Every Occasion What makes BoBo truly special is its versatility. It’ s as welcoming for a solo coffee stop as it is for a celebratory dinner. Families are thoughtfully catered for with a dedicated children’ s menu, including the ever-popular BoBo Burger and fries, while groups of friends can graze happily on tapas and small plates. The wine list has been carefully selected to complement the food, offering an authentic taste of the Iberia without needing a passport.
More than just a restaurant, BoBo positions itself as part of the community fabric of West Kirby— a place where memories are made, occasions marked, and everyday moments celebrated. From breakfast through to last orders, the philosophy is simple: quality food, with heartfelt service.
In summary: BoBo West Kirby succeeds in delivering something rare: a restaurant that feels both cosmopolitan and rooted in the community, contemporary yet warm. Every dish we tried was thoughtful, flavourful and beautifully presented, but it’ s the atmosphere— the friendliness, the sense of being looked after— that lingers most.
As their motto suggests, this is service“ old style”: genuine, unhurried, and always with a smile. Whether you come for avocado toast and coffee, a leisurely Iberian lunch, or a full dinner with wine and conversation, you’ ll leave not just well fed, but uplifted.
For West Kirby, BoBo is more than a cafe '/ bar / restaurant. It’ s a new community staple— one that invites you in as a guest and sends you home as a friend. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from 9am.
BoBo— good food, good people, good times.
