INSPIRING WOMEN: EMBRACING THE EXTRAORDINARY
by Shirleyann Haig, Founder of Inspiring Women Wirral
This month, I am thrilled to share the incredible success of our latest book launch: Embracing the Extraordinary: The Reality of Parenting Neurodivergent Children.
This collaborative book brings together ten inspiring women who are parents, educators, advocates, and entrepreneurs, each sharing their lived experiences of raising or supporting neurodivergent children. With honesty and wisdom, the stories offer support, strategies, and strength for families navigating ADHD, autism, PDA, and beyond. The book went straight to # 1 Bestseller on Amazon and was awarded the Hot New Releases badge on launch day— proof that the world is ready for more open, honest conversations about neurodiversity. Through its Crowdfunder campaign, Inspiring Minds Group CIC aims to raise £ 20,000 to cover writing, editing, design, publishing, and printing costs. Funds will also enable reduced-price or free distribution of the book to low-income families and charities who would benefit most. All profits from the sale of the book and the crowdfunder return to Inspiring Minds Group CIC to fuel ongoing projects for financial education, entrepreneurship, and neurodiverse learning. Id like to say a personal thank you to Estelle Maher and her team at Tauk Publishing for helping us turn an idea into a reality and help us edit, format and publish the book. Meet the Authors
I want to personally thank and congratulate each of the amazing women who made this book possible:
• Anne Archer – Beyond the Diagnosis: One Family’ s Journey to Rewrite the Narrative
• Francesca Manca – From Swimming in Chaos to Coaching to Structure: A PDA Parent’ s Journey
• Joanne Gibson – Parenting Through the Lens of Neurodiversity: A Journey of Advocacy, Expertise, and Self-Discovery
• Joanne Naylor – Still Perfect to Me …
• Laura Laing – Chasing Hope
• Michelle Foulia – Breaking Free – Choosing Another Path
• Sara O ' Donnell – Finley’ s Story
• Tracey Patton – Together Stronger
• Victoria Walton – Embracing the Neurodiverse Shaped My Life
And of course, myself, Shirleyann Haig, who shared my own story: From Crisis to Courage: Embracing the Life I Never Planned I curated this collection to give parents a voice and to ensure no family feels alone.
Together, these women have poured their hearts into stories that validate, inspire, and empower.
Wider Recognition Another highlight of our journey was being invited to be a charity partner at the Liverpool Book Festival, raising awareness and ensuring our voices reached a wider audience.
As a result, our collective is now being recognised as leaders and experts in the neuro-inclusive field. Schools, parents, and professionals are already using this book as a resource, and the feedback has been incredible.
Parents have told us they feel“ seen” for the first time. Educators say it has changed how they approach neurodivergence in the classroom. That is exactly why we wrote this book— to spark change, bring comfort, and create understanding.
We have recently been invited to present at the Autism and ADHD show and the national neurodivergent charities are contacting us asking for us to collaborate and attend podcasts and book reviews with them, our first podcast about the book will be with the PDA Society, an organisation that personally supported me through my most difficult times. Ive been asked to share info about the book and help share hints and tips around how to maintain a successful career when parenting neurodivergent children.
Moving Forward Embracing the Extraordinary is more than just a book. It is a movement, a community, and a beacon of hope for every parent who has ever felt alone. We are already planning more workshops, discussions, and collaborations to expand the impact of this work. This book was the beginning, but it will not be the end.
For anyone who hasn’ t yet ordered their copy, I warmly invite you to join us on this journey:
