This month, we headed to Vecino, Heswall’ s newest kid on the block— and what a debut! Brought to you by the team behind local favourites Silk Rd and Voisin, Vecino is a vibrant New Mexican bar and kitchen that brings bold, flavour-packed dishes, exotic drinks, and infectious energy to the Wirral food scene.
Set on Telegraph Road, this colourful and lively venue pulses with Latin soul— think upbeat music, neon lights, and a menu designed for sharing, sipping, and soaking up the fiesta. From the moment we walked in, we were hit with warmth, colour, and the scent of spice in the air.
What We Ate We were lucky enough to dive into an epic spread showcasing the best of the menu— and let’ s just say, you won’ t leave here hungry( or bored). The dishes don’ t just taste great— they look incredible too. Here ' s a flavour-packed rundown of what we tried:
• Buffalo Wings & Peri Peri Wings – Juicy, fiery, and fingerlicking good. The perfect way to kick off your visit with a bang.
• Jalapeño Poppers – Golden and crispy with a molten cheese centre— dangerously moreish.
• Huge Crispy Baja Bowl – A mountain of texture and flavour. Fresh, crunchy, colourful, and ideal for sharing.
• Steak & Chicken Fajitas – Arriving sizzling hot to the table, the steak was tender, the chicken perfectly spiced, and the aroma? Irresistible.
• Enchiladas – Rich, cheesy, and comforting— the ultimate hug in a dish.
• Tequila Prawns – Lightly flambéed and full of flavour, these were a real showstopper.
• Mexican Corn Ribs – Charred, sweet, and topped with zingy lime and spices— a standout side.
• Buffalo Tenders – Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and smothered in tangy buffalo sauce.
• Birria Tacos & Tinga Taco – Slow-cooked and full of depth, the birria was a favourite. Dunk it in the consommé and thank us later.
The bar runs late into the night, pouring classic and signature margaritas, tequila cocktails, and ice-cold beers— the perfect pairing for the food and the fiesta mood. Whether you’ re out for dinner, drinks with friends, or looking to dance your way into the weekend, Vecino hits the spot.
Final Thoughts As you’ ll see from the photos, everything looks amazing— but the flavours go even further. It’ s a menu cranked up to 11— full-on, fiery, and utterly addictive.

Every plate was bursting with character and creativity. The chefs have taken traditional Mexican and Latin American favourites and ramped them up with their own unique twist— every bite packs serious punch.
Atmosphere & Vibe Vecino isn’ t just about the food— it’ s an experience. From the music and the décor to the chefs shouting“ Arriba, arriba! Ándale!” from the kitchen( a cheeky nod to Speedy Gonzales), everything about this place adds to the fun, immersive vibe.
