A NIGHT TO REMEMBER AT THE FLORAL PAVILION: JOHNS ' BOYS WELSH MALE CHOIR RETURN FOR AN UNMISSABLE CONCERT IN AUGUST
There’ s something truly special about the sound of a Welsh male voice choir— the rich, warm harmonies, the passion behind every note, and the way the music wraps around an audience like an old, comforting shawl. On Saturday 30th August, that magic returns to New Brighton when the award-winning Johns ' Boys Welsh Male Choir step back onto the Floral Pavilion stage for what promises to be one of the most uplifting nights of the summer.
If you were there last year, you’ ll know exactly what we mean. The Floral Pavilion was full to the brim, and the atmosphere was electric— one of the most memorable nights of Johns ' Boys’ entire UK tour. For many in the audience, it was an evening to cherish: a reminder of how music can lift our hearts, bring us together, and stay with us long after the final applause.
This year, the choir are set to do it all again— and then some. With brand-new songs, beautiful new arrangements, and the same trademark warmth that has made them a household name, Johns ' Boys are ready to fill the Floral Pavilion once more with the unmistakable sound of Wales at its finest.
From Local Roots to Global Success
For those who haven’ t yet discovered them, Johns ' Boys are no ordinary choir. Based in Wrexham and villages across North Wales, these talented singers come from all walks of life— teachers, builders, students, farmers— all united by a love of singing and a deep pride in their Welsh roots.
What began as a small community group has grown into an incredible success story. They are the only British male voice choir ever to be crowned the Pavarotti Choir of the World at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod— an honour that puts them firmly among the world’ s choral elite. Millions fell in love with them when they reached the finals of Britain’ s Got Talent, where Simon Cowell called them“ a brilliant choir”. Since then, they have continued their remarkable journey, selling out venues across the UK, appearing on Alfie Boe and Michael Ball’ s recent number one album, and even packing out concert halls on a Canadian tour— winning standing ovations night after night. For the choir, it’ s all been something rather special, and never taken for granted.
A Programme with Something for Everyone
So, what can you look forward to on Saturday 30th August? Expect a beautiful mix of the traditional and the contemporary— stirring Welsh hymns sung with tenderness and pride, alongside fresh arrangements of modern favourites that have won the choir millions of fans online.
There really is something for everyone in this year’ s programme. Highlights include their viral cover of Biblical by Calum Scott— the track that shot them to the top of the iTunes Classical Chart— and a moving version of Falling by Harry Styles. Their breathtaking take on Nella Fantasia is guaranteed to raise goosebumps, while beloved Welsh classics like Calon Lân remind everyone of the choir’ s deep roots and love of home.
Each song is chosen not just to showcase their remarkable harmonies, but to speak straight to the audience— to stir memories, lift spirits, and create moments you’ ll carry home long after the lights come up.
A Warm Invitation
Artistic Director Aled Phillips says:“ It’ s been an incredible journey for us— to go from our small beginnings in North Wales to standing ovations and sold-out audiences all over the UK and beyond is something rather special. Last year’ s concert at the Floral Pavilion was one of the highlights of our tour— the atmosphere was simply unforgettable. We can’ t wait to come back to the Wirral this August and share an evening full of music for everyone. We’ d love you to come and be part of it.”
