Meet Karyn and Kate, Hays Travel’ s Cruise Experts for Merseyside and The Wirral, who are eager to share their insight into the world of cruising.
When did you first fall in love with cruising? Kate: Growing up in Hoylake, I’ ve always had a connection with the ocean. We lived in a house on the promenade and so I always had a view of the sea. As I grew older, I became fascinated with the idea of cruising.
You have both recently attended the CLIA River Cruise conference, and sailed form Budapest to Vienna- Tell me about that, what did you enjoy most about River Cruising? Karyn: Overall, this trip has completely changed our perspective on river cruising. The opportunity to visit multiple capital cities in one holiday is such a huge bonus! Kate: Karyn and I were lucky enough to experience dining on at least four different ships and each time it was amazing holiday and then look at what is available on the ships you will be surprised, there’ s just so much to offer. Cruising, whether river or ocean is a magical way of seeing and exploring the world. I love it!
What is your top tip for anyone going on their first cruise? Kate: Always book your cruise with a Travel Agent! Cruises can be quite complex, so this helps when planning which cruise is best for you and eases the booking process. What do you love about cruising? Karyn: Cruising offers so much— it ' s hard to pick just one thing! But if I had to, I’ d say I love the combination of relaxation and exploration. You get the best of both worlds: the opportunity to unwind on the ship, and then the excitement of hopping off to new destinations.
Where is your favourite place you’ ve visited on a cruise? Favourite dream destination? Such a difficult question and this changes daily. I love the Caribbean and would be happy to soak up the sunshine on many a Cruise ship that sails there!
