THE WILD INN, WEST KIRBY- COCKTAILS OF THE MONTH BY THE AWARD WINNING LIAM & SEAN WILD
Strawberry Fields
When we first set out to create our“ Rocktail Menu” at WILD INN, we knew we wanted to pay tribute to the roots that inspired both us and our bar. As Liverpool lads ourselves, Liam and Sean, it was only fitting that our hometown’ s most famous export, The Beatles, would feature somewhere on the menu.
By pure coincidence, the bar we opened stands on a site with its own brush with rock‘ n’ roll history, a place where The Beatles performed back in February 1962, right before the world knew their name. With that in mind, it felt only natural to craft a cocktail that would nod to one of their most iconic songs: Strawberry Fields Forever.
We decided to take inspiration from the vibrant, refreshing style of a Caipirinha, simple, punchy, full of life, but give it a Liverpool twist. After a bit of experimentation( and plenty of“ research”), the Strawberry Fields was born:
• 4 lime wedges muddled to release that fresh, zesty kick.
• 40ml Spiced Rum bringing warmth and rhythm to the glass.
• 25ml Strawberry Syrup adding that sweet, nostalgic melody.
• 25ml Crème de Framboise to layer in a rich berry harmony.
• All shaken hard and dumped straight into a rocks glass, no fuss, no filters, just like rock and roll.
• Finished off with a simple garnish: one fresh strawberry, a nod to the song that inspired it all.
The result? A drink that’ s vibrant, bold, and unmistakably Liverpool, much like the band that inspired it. Whether you’ re a local, a Beatles fan, or just someone looking for a killer cocktail, Strawberry Fields is a little taste of our city’ s musical soul in a glass.
Mr Blue Sky
When we were building our Rocktail Menu, we didn’ t just want to create great cocktails, we wanted each one to mean something. And for this one, we didn’ t have to look far. Growing up, one of our mum’ s favourite drinks was the classic Piña Colada, that perfect mix of tropical coconut, fruit, and sunshine in a glass.
Our dad, always one for nicknames, called her Suzy Blue, a name that stuck with her ever since. So, as a tribute, we took her favourite flavours and gave them a twist worthy of our Rocktail lineup.
With a little creative tweaking, a splash of colour, and a nod to one of the most uplifting songs ever written,“ Mr Blue Sky” by Electric Light Orchestra, this vibrant, electric-blue cocktail was born.
Here’ s how we shake it up:
• 25ml Malibu— bringing the coconut sunshine.
• 25ml Blue Curaçao— for that brilliant electric blue hue.
• 20ml fresh lemon juice— adding brightness and balance.
• 10ml sugar syrup— to smooth it all out.
• 50ml apple juice- for a juicy, crisp twist.
• Finished with a simple lemon twist garnish.
The result? Mr Blue Sky is light, fresh, fruity, like liquid sunshine. It’ s a little nod to our mum, a little nod to one of the great feel-good anthems of all time, and 100 % at home on the Rocktail Menu.
