AN INTERVIEW WITH AWARD WINNING SDS REJUVENATE
Si Hall & Nicky Rigby Talk to Dr Sally of SDS Rejuvenate MediSpa
It was lovely to see you all at The Wirral Life Awards last year and congratulations on winning Health & Beauty Clinic of the Year 2024. What does this mean to you? Winning awards is obviously fabulous, and we all had an amazing time. It was so lovely to catch up with so many other businesses, friends and colleagues. We have been very blessed to have won multiple awards over the last 10 years, both locally and nationally including Best Clinic North England on 2 occasions, but this does not make us complacent. In fact, it spurs us on to work harder to ensure we maintain a reputation of being‘ the best’.
It is said the aesthetic market is still booming despite the cost of living crisis. How does this affect you? It is interesting to that the aesthetic market is still thriving. It suggests that people are prioritising these treatments even with financial pressures, it also indicates a strong demand and perceived value in these services.
What are your thoughts about clinics opening where there are people injecting without qualifications and what is your advice? The proliferation of clinics offering cosmetic procedures administered by individuals without proper medical qualifications is a significant concern in the UK. Currently there is no legal requirement for non-surgical cosmetic treatments, such as botulinum toxin( Botox) injections and dermal fillers to be performed by medically qualified professionals. The lack of stringent regulation has resulted in numerous adverse outcomes for patients.
It is crucial for individuals considering cosmetic procedures to do their own research and select practices who are adequately trained and qualified. Opting for professionals with recognised medical credentials can significantly reduce the risk of complications and ensure that any adverse effects are properly and effectively managed.
I’ ve heard of people talking about salmon sperm facials – what are they and what are your thoughts on this treatment? Salmon sperm facials are a part of regenerative skin care and are growing in popularity due to the belief that their active ingredients may promote skin regeneration. The key is salmon DNA which is said to have a high concentration of nucleotides that can help improve skin elasticity, hydration and repair. They also claim to have antioxidant properties protecting against oxidative stress an UV damage and stimulate collagen.
The name is little misleading as it is not a pampering facial but involves using fine needles to inject small amounts of Polynucleotides just beneath the skin at multiple points across the treatment area. The injections are shallow and spaced to ensure even dilution.
Another buzzword seems to be‘ regenerative medicine’. What is this and do you offer this? Yes, we do. We offer Polynucleotides, Exosomes and Profhilo. This is a very interesting subject and rapidly gaining momentum in the aesthetic and dermatology world. These treatments focus on harnessing the body’ s natural healing and repair processes to rejuvenate and improve the skin, offering natural and long lasting results. Regenerative treatments focus on skin quality, natural subtle results and are being considered by younger patients who are wanting to slow down the ageing process and maintain youthful skin.
These treatments are considered innovating and safe! Offering minimal downtime, high biocompatibility and reduced risk of adverse reactions.
Do these treatments replace the more traditional injectable treatments such as dermal fillers? No, these treatments are still hugely popular in our clinic and demand remains high. However, when you combine injectables like line and wrinkle treatments( commonly known as Botox) and dermal fillers, with regenerative treatments, these can be ideal for patients who want to improve skin health and texture whilst also softening lines and restoring volume. It offers a tailored approach that can be customised based on each person ' s needs.
How do you see this industry changing moving forward: As previously stated, regenerative aesthetics will go mainstream, younger patients are already investing early in treatments skin care neuromodulators, collagen banking etc to sustain a timeless appearance. Patients are savvier than ever and with the rise of Tik Tok and Instagram people are learning to ask deeper questions about technique, product choice, longevity, and long-term side effects and I believe clinics who are confident and able to answer their questions will earn trust through their transparency and expertise. This is where the professionals will excel.
