AMANDA PRINCE. EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH MENOPAUSE: A NEW BEGINNING
Menopause has historically been misunderstood, and dismissed as an inevitable decline in health and vitality. For the millions of women navigating this life stage, menopause can be a profound transition, marking a new beginning. At our online menopause clinic, we are committed to changing the narrative, offering expert care and empowering women to thrive through midlife and beyond.
As a healthcare professional with 15 years of experience in the NHS and specialised qualifications in menopause care, I founded Amanda Prince Health with a simple mission: To make expert menopause care accessible, affordable and truly supportive. We understand that menopause affects every aspect of a woman’ s life, from career performance and relationships to mental health and physical well-being. Many women feel lost, dismissed, or unaware of the support available to them.
The impact of menopause is far-reaching. Hot flushes, night sweats, brain fog, anxiety, and sleep disturbances can disrupt daily life and diminish confidence. In the workplace, symptoms often go unspoken, leaving talented, experienced women to leave their roles at the height of their careers. Socially, myths persist that menopause signals the end of vitality and growth. Menopause can be a transformative period of self-discovery and renewal.
Our clinic offers comprehensive consultations, tailored treatment plans, and ongoing support. Whether through hormone replacement therapy( HRT), lifestyle adjustments, or holistic approaches, we help women reclaim their health and embrace midlife with confidence.
To start changing the conversation, here are some of the most common questions we hear about menopause— along with the facts every woman deserves to know.
Menopause Q & A: Myths, Facts, and What You Should Know
What exactly is menopause? Menopause is defined as the point when a woman hasn’ t had a period for 12 consecutive months, usually occurring between ages 45-55. The transition leading up to this, known as perimenopause, can start years earlier and causes fluctuating hormone levels which cause the symptoms of peri / menopause. Ovarian function is declining.
Is HRT dangerous? HRT is safe and effective for most women and remains the most effective treatment for symptoms like hot flushes and low mood. It is also evidence based. The risks are low as most preferred modern hormonal treatments are‘ body identical’ which means they are similar in structure to natural hormones. Flawed research 20 years
ago unfortunately resulted in breast cancer scaremongering which stopped a lot of women taking HRT.
Does menopause only affect physical health? No, menopause affects mental and emotional health too. Anxiety, low mood, irritability, and brain fog are common. Understanding the hormonal link to these changes can be empowering, and the right treatment can dramatically improve mental wellbeing. Just give some thought to premenstrual syndrome which affects many women in their reproductive life, the huge fluctuations in hormones are similar to the menopausal fluctuations of hormones
Should I just‘ power through’ menopause? Absolutely not. No one should suffer in silence. There are many treatment options, and seeking support can transform your experience. Menopause is a natural stage of life, but that doesn’ t mean you have to endure debilitating symptoms without help.
Is weight gain inevitable during menopause? Hormonal shifts can make weight management more challenging, but weight gain isn’ t inevitable. Lifestyle changes, balanced nutrition, exercise, and, in some cases, HRT can help maintain a healthy weight and overall well-being.
When does Menopause end? It doesn’ t‘ end’ once hormones start to decline, this continues. Some women still experience symptoms well into their 70’ s whilst other don’ t have any.
What are the benefits of Hormone treatment? Hormone treatment is now the first line preventative treatment for osteoporosis and can protect against cardiovascular disease, both of which cause death in women.
What can partners do to help? Menopausal symptoms can change things in a relationship, listen, do your research, be supportive. It can be a frightening time for some women, they may feel out of control and very emotional. Seek advice together, you will both learn how to manage this transition. Things can get better.
