INCUBABIES FUNDRAISES FOR WIRRAL’ S NEONATAL UNIT
The charity IncuBabies has donated £ 300,000 towards the refurbishment of the Neonatal Unit at Arrowe Park Hospital.
Members of the charity have generously given their time to fundraise for unit and the funds were presented to the hospital ahead of the refurbishment work which is set to start in spring.
The designated Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wirral Women and Children’ s Hospital based at the Arrowe Park site cares for some of the most poorly babies. The team provides specialist care for babies from around 22 weeks of pregnancy.
This refurbishment will include expansion of the neonatal unit and enhanced parent facilities. It will improve facilities for its smallest patients and their families.
In recent years IncuBabies has held many events to raise funds and has seen a huge involvement from the community. Representatives from the charity visited Arrowe Park which is run by Wirral University Teaching Hospital, to personally speak to staff from the Neonatal Unit and see what a big difference the funds will make to tiny babies and their families.
" Incubabies will continue and move into a new phase where we will carry on supporting the Unit but will also start to engage with Community projects related to the Unit and other important areas of research.”
David McGovern, Director of Public Affairs at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, accepted the funds on behalf of the Trust and accompanied IncuBabies on the visit.
He said:“ It was fantastic to meet with IncuBabies and invite them along to see the amazing work of our team in the Neonatal Unit. This was a great opportunity to personally thank the charity for raising the funds.”
Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, added:“ We would like to thank IncuBabies for all their efforts in raising such a phenomenal amount. We provide the highest level of care at our Neonatal Unit and this refurbishment will truly enhance the facilities for babies and families.”
On behalf of the Trustees and all our supporters Sheila Clarke MBE Chair of IncuBabies said“ We are excited and thankful that we have reached this milestone and the work on the Unit is beginning.
