ALBERT ' S SCHLOSS
BY SI HALL & NICKY RIGBY
Albert ' s Schloss is an Alpine restaurant and bier hall with bohemian spirit in the heart of Liverpool . With a world-class food offering , in-haus bakery , homemade Alpine schnapps and 7 Days of Showtime from the best in the business , they have everything you could ever need under one roof .
Open daily from 9am , the Cook Haus serves up indulgent Alpine dishes all day long , from breakfast through to evening meals , including traditional European fare such as Schweinshaxe , Spätzle and Fondue with a Schloss twist .
With a journey time of just 25 minutes from Wirral via Merseyrail to Liverpool Central , it is conveniently located to enjoy a mix of food , cocktails and live music .
The Wirral Life team went along on a Friday evening to try out the experience .
On arrival , the venue was busy and had a lively buzz . There was a mix of people socialising over drinks and some were dining . We were greeted by the welcoming team , and shown to our table which was a lovely booth close to the stage .
The roasted pork knuckle was enormous and perfectly cooked and tender . Falling off the bone . The schnitzel was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside . Yum !
Despite the very generous meal sizes , we of course had to try out the desserts and ordered a Salted Caramel Brulee with sea salt , shortbread and Alpine Chocolate Cheesecake with vanilla and chocolate mousse and a raspberry coulis . Delicious .
With food out the way and us feeling content , we ordered some shots as the live music was about to start . What a perfect way to transition from dining to dancing … and we had such a fun night !
For our instagrammers , the venue boasts a photobooth downstairs and the ladies ’ bathrooms features a very popular disco toilet with two toilets inside .
Highly recommended - Albert ' s Schloss has something to offer everyone and just a short journey from the Wirral !
Whilst we were perusing the menu , we ordered homemade pretzels and dips to share and a refreshing elderflower and wild raspberry spritz from the Wunderbar . The cocktail was refreshing made with Didsbury Gin raspberry and elderflower , Chambord , St-Germain elderflower liqueur , lemon and Prosecco . The pretzels were the best ones we have had outside of Germany ! Warm , fresh and soft - they were huge and amazing value at £ 5 each .
Whilst sipping on our cocktails , taking in our surroundings - which is a large space with long tables , - Bier hall style with informal dining . The atmosphere is casual and fun .
For starters , we ordered paprika prawns , these were Crispy prawns with paprikash + Frankfurt sauce and the Burrata which came served with tomato relish + pretzel chips .
For mains , we opted for the traditional bavarian dishes : Schewinshaxe which is a Crispy roasted pork knuckle seasoned with juniper , caraway , fennel , black pepper , rich gravy , red cabbage and apple sauce , and the Schloss Schnitzel - Chicken breast , salsa verde , aioli , charred lemon , served with herbed new potatoes .
